CAREER SUMMARY

Sharmin Sultana is a Public Health Professional and a freelance health writer with more than ten years of experience in different national and international level organizations in Public Health, Nutrition, Social and Behavior Change Communication, Knowledge Management, Administration and Accounts sectors of Bangladesh.

She worked with WorldFish as a Knowledge Management Specialist on the USAID Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity. There she designed and developed a comprehensive knowledge management strategy, and organized and facilitated USAID's Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) workshop for staff. She also designed a Knowledge Management platform for staff and sub-grantees and documented lessons learned and best practices of the project. Just before that she worked as a Knowledge Management Coordinator at USAID’s Accelerating Capacity for Monitoring and Evaluation (ACME) in Bangladesh for IBTCI. Previously she worked as a Program Officer and USAID Fellow on the Bangladesh Knowledge Management Initiative (BKMI) project. BKMI was a USAID funded project under the global Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3). She also worked for the Bangladeshi NGOs Eminence, DSK and Padakhaep Manabik Unnayan Kendra. She completed an MPH in Community Nutrition from the Bangladesh Institute of Health Science at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 2011. She obtained a BSc and a MSc in Home Economics from the National University.

Ms. Sultana has good understanding of development related issues including Health, Nutrition, and Population and has sound knowledge of Public Health, Community Nutrition and research related issues. She has robust knowledge and experience in knowledge management, report writing, article writing, translating, and event management.

Sharmin attended different national and international conferences as a speaker. She has a number of publications including an international journal publication titled, “Infant and young child feeding practices and their nutritional status in a national nutrition program area” which is published by the International Journal of Human Nutrition and Food Science. She has good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-disciplinary environment. She has good analytical skills and capacity to meet challenges.
