I started my quest into being a machinist in 2010, at that point I learned what a radial arm drill was. I learned the mill, the engine lathe, and the vertical mill, the graphite wheel. Unit drilling taught me how to use more advanced tooling, layout of sheet metal. Furthermore I got more involved in machining, I went to school to advance my own skill, never asked Unit for one dollar of reimbursement. I went to school based on my own drive and ambition. I would have gone back to school but a F-5 tornado blew my school away. Therefore Mac my shop forman allowed me more time on machines. I was making bicket pins. I was cutting shafts.Threading pins puller bars, sleeves, bushings. I expanded my knowledge further by learning how to sharpen drill bits, the arbor press, forktruck and skytracks. I loved working for Unit drilling I felt I needed to grow, so I sacrificed all to grow with Sentry I got exposed to more advanced machining, introduced to ring grooves sleeves for bails as well as bail pins, bladders for dampners the list goes on. I have an understanding what waste is and is not in a machine shop, learned to conserve. Unfortunately my time with Sentry was cut short due to a lack of work. I want to be a game changer wherever I go.

Sentry (Aerotek) - Oklahoma City, OK

October 2014 to January 2015

My last employer was impressed with my eagerness to learn and improve. I came up with a unique way to do the autoclaves. I found a unique way to mount device to the table, that was attached to the drill press. I created a list of procedures, that made the process extremely easier to achieve. The procedure took a heavy complex part, that the management was going to stop doing and turned the autoclaves into a successful part

Skills Used

At first I had to understand was the three jaw chuck on a lathe would become something of the past. Sentry had nothing but four jaw chucks for the most part. This would not stop me from my goal. I have my wonderful leadman Chris Powers for that. I got more involved in the measuring aspect of the parts I was about to create, such as different micrometers that I had but never used until now.I had prints before at the other place I worked for the first time I had to trust the values that I came up with, which proved to be invaluable knowledge. Another source of knowledge I attained was how to control waste in the workplace. The knowledge of sharpening drill bits properly was important, because, this meant dollars were saved not many had this skill.

conventional machinist

unit drilling - Oklahoma City, OK

March 2011 to October 2014

Responsibilities

Unit Drilling gave me a number of tasks. I was never so proud of my supply racks and slabs. This was a discombobulated mess it was hard to get what you needed. I cleaned that mess up. Before I left you had clear access to all the steel. These racks were maintained with no clutter. You used to have to expand your boom on the skytrack to reach the racks. After all this I still had time to machine on the lathes, and mills, and that huge Fosdick radial arm drill press. This made me versatile and extremely productive

Accomplishments

I grew at Unit Drilling. I really didn't know much about the oilfield. Bull Turner gave me the opportunity to learn the, radial arm drill press, and expand my press brake knowledge. Work was rather slow and with the help of Bull Keith McAllister Brandon Dahlenberg Mac Conway and the boys over at the machine shop, they saved my job, but actually gave me another job. Brandon and the boys gave me the opportunity, to grow plus I went to Canadian Valley Votech. I went to votech on my own I didn't ask for a penny of reimbursement I wound up with about a year. My school got blown away by a F-5 tornado. Mac Conway and the boys did a wonderful job shaping me in the machine shop learning the lathes, mills, became a wonderful threader. I also got better at bringing my parts to tolerance. Skills Used

I made parts derived from accurate measurements, from micrometers, calipers. I read prints made my parts based on what the prints called for. I threaded based on formulas. I gained an understanding of thread pitch, and thread engagement
