VA STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM • June 2017 to August 2017 •Miami VA Hospital, 1201 N.W. 16th St. Miami, FL 33125• 40 hours/week • Supervisor: Carlos Julemiste, 305-***-**** ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The VETERANS ADMINISTRATION VOLUNTEER STUDENT program provided me with the opportunity and to unite with senior citizens and the handicapped as well as the able-bodies men and women of the community in one integrated program which conveys to the veteran patient the love of the community and its interest in his/her early rehabilitation and return to his/her family and community. The combination of enthusiasm and ambition of teen students, with the wisdom of age is significant benefit in the development of new and effective programs capable of meeting todays challenge in the VA medical facilities, posts, and communities.
DUTIES PREFORMED:
Specialized working in the Food Services Department, Social Work Department, and with Information Technology.
A liaison for the community; provided a valuable element in caring for Veterans.

Sorts and distributes mail involving limited categories.

Types forms, labels, and envelopes not requiring a qualified typist.
Responds to routine requests in support of daily office operations.

Volunteering here helped support the entire Florida State Park system by preserving, protecting and ensuring accessibility to state parks, educating visitors about the value of state parks, encouraging community engagement and active use of state parks, and providing financial support to supplement state funding. DUTIES PREFORMED:
Assisted with the setup, conducting, and cleanup of activities which included, special events, sports games, arts and crafts.
