Transamerica, Atlanta GA 2000 to 2020

Director (AVP), Software Engineering (2019 – 2020) Promoted to new Director level position comparable to AVP-VP level of responsibility. Leader of technology management and software engineering for the retail distribution arm of Transamerica

(Transamerica Financial Network) including World Financial Group, World Financial Group of Canada, Transamerica Agency Network, Transamerica Financial Advisors (broker-dealer), and Transamerica Life Distributors.

● Directly managed the technology leadership team.

● Oversaw all enterprise application development and software engineering for the four distribution companies of Transamerica. Software serviced over 70,000 financial advisors.

● Oversaw all Salesforce development activity for the Individual Solutions division of Transamerica, the largest division in the US and Canada. Individual Solutions has the largest Salesforce footprint of any Aegon company globally.

● Staff size is approximately 45 full time employees and 20-40 contractors depending on current needs.

Appointed on the Salesforce Advisory Council in 2018 to meet with executives from Salesforce and other Fortune 500 companies to discuss and direct Salesforce services from a customer perspective. The feedback had direct influence on the Salesforce services roadmap. Instrumental in implementing a Citizen Developer program at Transamerica. After researching the concept and having detailed discussions with Salesforce, promoted the idea to business leadership. The program was so successful that Transamerica created an actual Citizen Developer job class to further enhance the process. Featured as a customer success story on the Salesforce Citizen Developer website https://www.salesforcecitizendevelopment.com/customer-stories Oversaw the conversion of 35,000 Salesforce Partner Community user licenses into Financial Services Cloud licenses. This was the largest conversion of this type in Salesforce history and was completed successfully on schedule.

Several members of my staff were recognized as Salesforce Trailblazers. Director of eBusiness, Transamerica Life & Protection Division (2009 – 2015) Oversight leader of multiple software development teams with an emphasis on enterprise class distributed software. The teams include developers, DBAs, web designers, QA, and BA personnel.

● Managed and led all software development in the Life & Protection Division, the largest division of Transamerica.

● Direct reports were technology leaders across the US and Canada. Approximately 60 full time employees and 20-25 contractors. Teams responsible for software development for multiple companies including World Financial Group, Transamerica Financial Advisors, Transamerica Affinity Groups, Transamerica Premier Life Insurance, and Stonebridge Life.

● Oversaw the transition from Waterfall SDLC to Agile/SCRUM. Large complex project involving training, coaching, pilot groups and obtaining buy in from the business leaders.
