PROJECTS
Study of Flow over an NACA 0012 Aero foil
To find drag and lift over an aerofoil, simulate the flow over an Aerofoil in Ansys Fluent(CFD) & validated the results with experimental results in the wind tunnel lab.
Validation of low fidelity model of radial fan using Static ROM in Ansys The objective of this project was to perform a DOE to compare the results of a Reduced-order Model of Radial fan using the Static ROM modeling module in Ansys with that of a complete numerical model(High fidelity model) of the same Radial fan for different rpm. This can be useful to reduce the lead time for a simulation at the component level assembly.
Transient simulation to determine the cycle time.
The purpose of this project was to find the cycle time(period) during which RC and Pantry damper are in an open position. This was done by monitoring the temperature of the sensor and shutting off the flow in the RC and pantry using a UDF function.
CFD analysis to determine performance curve of Radial and axial fan. Measuring fan performance at a component level means measuring the static pressure rise generated by the fan. A steady-state fan model similar to the test rig setup was made using Spaceclaim and Ansys Fluent. The steady-state results were compared to the test results.
Solidification and melting model of fill tube.
The purpose of this project is to predict the freezing and melting cycle of the fill tube in the Icebox using the solidification and melting model. The simulation can help find melting and freezing times for standing water in the fill tube which can help to design the heater specification for the fill tube. Refrigeration Ice making steady state simulation.
The purpose of this project was to find the time taken to freeze all the ice cubes in a refrigerator. Steady-state Natural/forced convection with conjugate heat transfer of complete refrigerator is model to obtain the heat transfer data in Ansys Fluent in addition to 1D modeling( twin builder) is being developed to quickly and correctly obtain freezing times.
Acoustical Analysis of Pressurized heavy water reactor(PHWR) coolant channel Assembly M.Tech Project
The objective was to ensure the safety of the coolant channel that it should not resonate at pump operating frequency. A 1D acoustical model was made to predict the response of the PHWR reactor assembly in Matlab to the pulsating response of the operating pump at variable frequency, the 1D elements of the assembly were represented by transfer matrix and the components of the transfer matrix were found solving the 3D model of those elements in Comsol Multiphysics, and verification and validation of the response with the experimental data.
