Highly experienced Human Services professional with a sense of vision, zeal, and an innovative problem solver. These elements have aided me in developing a strong foundation in the human services arena to implement effective programming and staff management strategies, using core skill elements such as critical thinking, oral and written communication, and team leadership. NYC Department of homeless services
I have served in several progressively upward social service capacities within the Department of Homeless Services beginning as a Client Advocate and Supervisor in the Office of Client Advocacy; a Prevention Coordinator in the Office of Prevention and most recently as a Manager in Adult Services in the City’s 30th Street Men’s Assessment Shelter - a 230 bed capacity shelter. My social service and program management experience encompasses the following leadership responsibilities during this time.
Administrative Director of Social Services 2016 - Present
Management and leadership oversight of the daily operation of a 230 bed men’s assessment shelter program.
Provide administrative/direct supervision and program support to social service and clerical staffs.
Interpret agency policy and procedure to ensure compliance standards are met via Federal, State, and local mandates.
Interface and collaborate with DHS directly run and contracted shelters as well as city agencies providing services to the homeless.
Maintains an appropriate distribution of staff to ensure adequate coverage and fiscal operations.
Evaluate and review employee performance according to established task and standards.
Determine staff training needs. Recommend and arrange appropriate training for staff development.
Prevention Coordinator 2014-2016
Monitored the delivery of Homebase Prevention services to clients in the five boroughs.
Supported agency initiatives relative to client linkage to housing, eviction prevention services and veteran re-housing.
Worked with contracted providers to enhance service delivery to the homeless.
Conducted fieldwork including client home visits.
Tracked housing placements via developed database system.
Client Advocate & Advocacy Supervisor 2003-2014
Responded to complaints and inquiries from constituents, shelter clients, elected officials, 311 calls, and DHS contracted agencies.
Reported, tracked, and resolved client complaints within 48 hours.
Conducted site visits of shelters, drop-in-centers, and intake centers.
Developed partnerships with community-based organizations.
Supervised the daily activities of the Advocacy office @ PATH.
Developed protocol and procedures for services provided to families with children at PATH.
