Description: SBBC covers the same geographic area as Broward County, and provides elementary, secondary and vocational educational services to the unincorporated areas of the County and all of the 31 incorporated municipalities within the County, the largest of which is the City of Fort Lauderdale. SBBC has a student enrollment that is the second largest in the State and the sixth largest in the United States. For the school year 2005-2006, SBBC had approximately 271,000 students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten to 12 in 262 schools. Overall, for the school year 2005-2006, SBBC had 138 elementary schools, 42 middle schools, 28 high schools, 6 adult/vocational schools, 10 centers, and 38 charter schools.

Environment: eService web application testing tool, a Web-based user interface developed using SAP portal.

Description: The eService web application will provide Siemens customers with a web solution that is integrated with the core Siemens ERP functionality provided by SAP and will hence automate the customer service business process. Authorized users will have the ability to create and update a Notification, add specific customer related tasks or request Siemens engineer support. Authorized user will also be able to query service request, invoice, installed base and then enter and track service notifications for specific equipment, without involving Siemens call-center staff. This improves the efficiency of the customer service process and gives customers an enhanced service quality, as they are able to easily enter the notification and track the task status.

The application would also provide a message board collaboration area where the users can post their messages to the contacts entitled for the same functional location to which the user belongs and also can receive responses from them. In addition, there will be an evaluation feature for the messages as well service calls.

The implementation of the solution is based on the SAP NetWeaver application server and integration platform, in line with Siemens corporate CIO architecture. This will be integrated with Siemens customer portal. Moreover, an extension to additional business functionality such as spare part ordering can be achieved with the same framework.

Responsibilities: Samarjit was involved as a portal tester. Test Plan identifies the scope of testing for different levels of testing, functions/features to be tested, the testing tasks to be performed, and the personnel responsible for each task, and the business and technical risks that can be addressed through that level of testing.
