Resume:

Hello, my name is Alea Simons and I am five year professional in nonprofit organizations and government. My career interests and expertise include nonprofit and public sector financial management along with program development.

In my current role as Legislative Budget Analyst for the New York State Assembly Ways and Means Committee, I participate in negotiations of the New York State Budget on behalf the Democratic Majority Conference in the areas of child welfare services and agencies for public employees and pension systems. I also engage in fiscal and policy research and analysis for each of these areas, including writing and preparing memos, excel sheets and relevant bill copies, to provide adequate recommendations to leadership for formation of the Assembly’s policy and budgetary position. Finally, I present any proposed legislation in my assigned agencies at Ways and Means Committee meetings and answer any question Assembly members may ask.

Additionally, my past experience provided me the opportunity to help develop new programs at multiple nonprofit organizations. As a Senior Research Aide at the SUNY Research Foundation, I helped manage a National Science Foundation funded research project, in a team of seven, to develop an app for the 211 program. This included researching and interviewing community organizational leaders and the general public of the city of Albany about service coordination and the use of technology to find information.

During my time in graduate school, as a Master of Social Work Intern United Way of the Greater Capital Region, I researched and created surveys for the CFE Funded National Bank On Program, a program to help individuals have access to free and secure banking options. I also presented an end of the year Powerpoint presentation about the program and how to move the plan of action forward. And lastly, again as a MSW intern at Vanderheyden, Inc., a residential treatment program for youth and adults, I created a Stepping Stone Project with the goal of assisting residents in their treatment plans as well as developing the project’s purpose, functions and budget. I enjoyed being a part of all of these projects and I am confident I will bring the same energy and aptitude for any role.

I would enjoy the opportunity to meet face to face and/or remotely to speak more about the position in question. My contact information is 732-***-**** and my email is **********@*****.***. Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for the consideration.

Sincerely,

Alea Simons
