Activities undertaken:
• Worked as a leader, teacher and a mentor with different stakeholders viz. students, their community, school administration, local administration, Teach For India
• Experimented with activity based value lessons and gradually integrated values and reflections with every subject to increase self-exposure and learning
• Initiated inquiry based learning in history and integrated it with RC, civics and values to imbibe the skill of making connections; helped students to gain a real-life perspective about subjects being taught
• Worked on literacy development to bridge learning gaps through multiple strategies like activity based teaching, guided immersion, weekly writing structures, differentiated planning & instruction, language classes integrated with other subjects and contextual grammar instruction. This helped increase the average RC level of class from grade 1.7 to 2.6 and writing level from grade 1.2 to 2.4 in one year.
• Created a differentiated instruction structure in both seventh and eighth grade for students still at beginner level in language comprehension. It led them to become more confident in expression and ensured that all (but one) of them reached grade level one by mid-year.
• Created rubrics for Discipline and Initiative in class. Used these and Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Development to guide end of-day reflection of student actions on a daily basis, to help students become aware of their actions, motivation and consequences. It built strong reflective ability in students leading to better behavior management in class.
• Started Leadership Development Conversations (one-on-one) with students to mentor them on their future plans and help them reflect on their current reality, strengths and areas of development. Attended a two-day Active Listening workshop to build coaching and mentoring skills to facilitate this. It helped students gain a sense of clarity towards their future goals.
• Facilitated career counseling sessions for senior classes in school to help them make informed decisions for their future. Impacted more than 300 students through these sessions. Fellow Recruitment Committee, Teach for India August 2016 – May 2017 (10 months) Key responsibilities:
• Planned & outreach campaigns for Campaign Leaders in colleges to execute
• Planned and executed one major event for a target audience in January that entailed everything from conceptualizing the requirement of the new cohort of TFI in 2017

Xuanzang International Internship Programme’16 Summer Internship 2016 (6 weeks)
• Directorate of School Education, Kashmir proposed this internship and as an intern worked as mentor, leader, counselor and focused on improving school education in the remote areas of Kashmir namely Gurez, Zadgay, PTL, Kupwara, etc through interventions in teaching, content development, teacher training, community mobilization along with improving school administration and policy
