STEAM TURBINE GENERATOR

Electrical energy generating by using steam turbines involves three energy conservations, extracting thermal energy from fuel and using it to raise steam, converting the thermal energy of the steam into kinetic energy in the turbine and using a rotary generator to convert the turbine’s mechanical energy in to electrical energy.

Steam turbine is an excellent prime mover to convert heat energy in to steam into mechanical energy of all heat engines and all in industries where power is needed to process.

In power generation mostly steam turbine is used because of its greater thermal efficiency and higher power to weight ratio. Because the turbine generates rotary motion, it is particularly suited to be used to drive an electrical generator – about 80% of all electricity generators in the world are by use of steam.
