Site quality contractor working with US companies providing a comprehensive variety of quality services in a wide variety of industries in N.A., Europe, the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and beyond. Work extensively with contract manufacturers and ODM manufacturers to develop new processes and products. Self-employed. Have proven successful in a broad variety of products. My company provides contract regional supplier quality support service for foreign companies with suppliers globally. Contract assignments included:

Aerospace-

Worked with largest aerospace supplier in Taiwan (AIDC) in Taichung, to manufacture parts for Spirit/Boeing 737 and 777 Commercial parts program and DOD P8A program. Main Taiwan customer quality site leader. Performed FAI evaluations approvals and tooling approvals to AS9000 requirements. Performed process and product audits, collected and analyzed process data to track quality status and improvement. Supported supplier accomplishment of certification to Grade A Polished Skin supplier, and taught classes in error proofing, among others. Assisted in solving quality issues; redesigned tooling and quality gaging to meet requirements. Expert with AS9145 APQP for Aerospace requirements.

Worked with other aerospace suppliers in Taiwan for Boeing 747, Triumph, and other customers providing pre-shipment inspections.

Worked with Northrup Grumman supplier in S. Korea on Global Hawk and Triton drone components for preshipment inspections and FAI review/approval. Provided significant cost-savings over sending staff from US. for FAI evaluations.

Enterprise Electronics-

Supported Enterprise Switch manufacturer in developing current suppliers, managing a global recall program, including developing and oversite of rework of affected boards in Taiwan, working with component supplier (E-caps) to identify root cause of failures and improve reliability of components. Developed warranty data analysis that provided global recall scheduling. Lead audits of prospective suppliers in Thailand and Ukraine, providing expert analysis of supplier capability for growth of supply base in these regions.

Automotive-

APQP, PPAP, development with suppliers. Led Training. Implemented Layered Process Audit (LPA) methods with suppliers in Egypt. Automotive seats, robotic welding stations. Run@Rate, IATF 16949, FMEA (8D), and drove significant cost reductions in sourcing for GM Brazil.

Other Products-

Contract assignments included leading site audits of suppliers in Taiwan, Japan, and China. Medical Device, Construction Equipment, Space industry PCB bare board suppliers, glass containers in China. Baby strollers, exercise equipment, pens, lighters, laser pointers.

3/1/2005 – 1/31/2007 - Operations Field Representative, Supplier Quality Manager – Asia Pacific

THALES Magellan Navigation, Taipei, Taiwan.

Operations support for all OEM/ODM suppliers in the Asia Pacific Region, (Taiwan, China, Thailand, etc.) for this US based GPS consumer electronics company. Responsible for OEM/ODM quality for cables, components, keyboards, handheld bodies, assembly line review and improvement, launch support and continuous improvement. Duties include project management of quality, delivery, expediting and engineering projects in the region, supplier selection, and qualification including contract negotiations. Identified, selected and qualified a GPS Watch supplier in Taiwan for new product. Travel extensively throughout Asia visiting active and potential suppliers.

12/2000 – 3/2005 Quality and Reliability Manager, Intel Microelectronics LTD. Taipei, Taiwan

Managed regional supplier quality management including supplier audits, training, measures, corrective action, supplier performance, selection and development. Responsibility included Material quality and supplier site qualification for PCBs, systems, outsourcing, passive, connector, chassis, LCD, consumer electronics (cameras) and substrate commodities. Responsible for training of internal engineering staff and supplier staff. Led global team on supplier audit methodology and supplier audit program management. Led evaluations of supplier quality auditors for certification process. Developed global approach to test lab certifications to allow local labs in Asia to provide materials testing support for Intel, drastically shortening time to market for new products. Received two Divisional Recognition awards. Received Annual Instructor Recognition Award for providing training for Intel staff and suppliers. Worked with US team to exceed $5 million cost saving target for 2005. (We achieved $6.2m). Received recognition award from FOXCONN for supporting their development leading to their achievement of ODM status with Intel, saving Intel over 8 million per year in over site costs.

11/1997 - 3/1999 Senior Divisional Quality Engineer – Automotive Braking Division Lead Auditor - Bosch Braking Systems Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA

Divisional Lead Auditor - responsible for auditing all Bosch Braking Systems facilities globally to the requirements of TS-16949 and VDA 6.X. Assisted in the development of a rating system to ensure that continuous quality management system improvement could be measured. First American auditor in company involved in VDA QMS audits in Europe, Mexico and the U.S. Met goal of drastically reducing findings on registrar audits through leading “pre-audits” of systems prior to registrar audits. 30% reduction in registrar audit findings.

4/1994 - 11/1997 Corporate Supplier Quality Engineer, Case Corporation

Racine, Wisconsin

Audited worldwide supply base to ISO+ requirements, identify improvements and implement corrective actions to reduce quality issues in CASE factories worldwide. Developed auditor training program to standardize findings interpretations. Implementation included presenting results to corporate management and developing a rating system for audits. Results were used for decisions on supplier rationalization. Over-all supply base reduced from 3,600 to 1,800 in the course of 4 years. Quality Representative on Global Strategic Sourcing team successful in developing a 5-million-dollar cost savings for company. Successfully managed an outsourcing program for loader buckets ($14m USD cost savings). Achieved “expert” status in hydraulic systems, buckets, under carriage, transmissions, hydraulic gear pumps, rims, weldments, tires, ground engagement, GPS, seed drills, etc.
