ACADEMIC RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Project: PCB remediation Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), OH 09/2018-12/2020

Lead the team to remediate high-concentration PCBs disposed of in the environment. Redesigned the existing reaction systems and thus simplified the operation, improved the repeatability and accuracy of data, meanwhile reducing the research cost to 30%. Used data analysis method to assess the impacts of multiple factors on the dechlorination efficiency so as to determine the optimal reaction conditions of PCBs remediation, which greatly decreased the labor and time put in.

Project: Air pollutant emissions Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency, OH 09/2019

By collecting and analyzing the data from multiple different emission sources, I modeled the emission patterns and pollutants on different sites, which provided the seasonality of each air pollutant and realized the prediction of air pollutant correspondingly. Accordingly, target policy and implementations could be made in advance to mitigate the air pollution as much as possible.

Project: Drinking water purification Great Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW), OH 05-08/2019

Microalga blooming happened in summer season, which caused harmful and toxic matters in original drinking water from GCWW. I studied its rules and impacts on drinking water quality via characterization and test for sand filter backwash water. After understanding what and how the emerging organic matters were transported and transformed in the nature water, I designed, simulated and integrated the fundamental water treatment methods into drinking water purification systems. Then in the water plant of GCWW, I engineered the combined processes in pilot scale to address the summer seasonal contamination problem.

Internship Grand Pharma (China) Co. Ltd, Fuchi branch, Hubei 04-05/2015

The pharmacy industry mainly produces taurine applied as additives in food and beverages, especially energy drinks. I took the day shifts to supervise the productional parameters of the industry and to monitor the operation of the reaction system.
