SUMMARY: Dedicated to the field of Occupational Therapy and Gerontology through extensive life-long education and training. Thirteen years clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist with treatment focused on mental health, general adult and geriatric orthopedics, physiology and function in geriatrics with varied co-morbidities. Varied experience as a clinical fieldwork educator and supervisor for masters level occupational therapists and entry level assistants. Research and clinical interests include all areas related to aging, mental health and chronic disease management. Provided traditional occupational therapy treatment using focused on mental health,
orthopedic medicine and rehabilitation and general disease management in varied settings.
Treatment focused on physiology and function with general adult populations, however
primary focus on geriatrics with co-morbidities including depression, anxiety, panic
disorder, pain management, medical crisis counseling, relaxation/stress management, and
teaching how to cope with chronic illnesses. Collaborated with patients on a Self-Care Plan
to facilitate disease self- management, improve coping skills and distress tolerance, reduce
stress, and increase relaxation. Educated patients and their support systems on chronic
illness. Fieldwork educator and clinical instructor for 12 years for Masters Level
Occupational Therapy students and entry level occupational therapy assistants.
