Duties:

As the travel focal point at the Regional Bureau in Johannesburg, I was required to handle all aspects of travel

(international, regional and domestic), for all staff right through to executive level, for the World Food Programme, UNESCO and OCHA. I also offered travel and administrative support to our 11 country offices. I assisted the Regional Bureau with their office move as well as the closure of their Angolan country Office. Along with that role, I was disposing of obsolete company assets.

• Ensuring that all WFP policies and procedures were adhered to

• Obtaining quotations for all travel requests and coordinating the travel bookings ensuring that the most efficient and cost-effective options were given

• Arranging hotel bookings and coordinating land transport as per UN security requirements and ensuring that payments were made timeously

• Calculating staff entitlements and loading of staff trips onto SAP (SAP is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system) after all the requirements had been met – as per UN regulations

• Ensuring that staff trips were closed on submission of receipts (boarding passes, hotel bills) as per UN practice

• Monitoring and reviewing travel claims and supporting documentation for all WFP staff as well as UNESCO and OCHA for accuracy and conformity within UN rules
