Plant Manager

Run a plant for business that consists of cleaning various types of filter media and other parts for the Oil/Polymer industries by using a chemical and salt process, and high temp oven to remove impurities.

We strive in getting efficient turnaround times in order to keep our customers operations running at full capacity.

In charge of the day to day operations for the facility these are including but not limited to: production, shipping, human resources, environmental, customer relations, safety and budget analysis.

Increased profit margins of over 40% in my first 6 months.

Implemented a hands on/site specific training program which has reduced work place incidents and increased overall production.

Reduced overall plant operating costs by 10% for the last 12 month’s average.

Introduced a 5-S and a lean manufacturing concepts within the facility.

Modified our filter cleaning equipment to include both steps of the washing filters. 1 step was clean and rinse filters from outside next step were to clean/rinse the inside. I added spray nozzles to clean the outside of our cleaning station now we effectively achieve both steps simultaneously and reduce cleaning time 50%.

Introduced a new schedule to reduce overtime from 30 hours a week to 10 (due to manning and home office finding qualified applicants).

Help out in the production area needed when schedule allows which helps motivate and keep my employees motivated and pushing forward.

Attended the Hazardous Waste Generators course and also have been registered through the STEERS network.

Manage daily production and safety meetings with the General Forman, Supervisor and Maintenance Representative to insure that the quotas will be met

In charge of rebuilding and cleaning up our site after Harvey.

Maintained a safe and effective work environment for the twelve individuals.

Managed production process, safety, batch processing, utilities, approved timesheets, handled personnel files, conducted the daily product report, wrote and review incident reports that involve safety, personnel and production issues.

Manufacturing process included six production lines to produce PET chip from a raw material state by batch processing.

Managed and ran daily production meetings to give a recap of the previous day’s issues and get a schedule of maintenance lockouts, production changes for the current work day. Attendees were Plant Manager, Operations Manager, all Engineers for Production

Overseen numerous line shutdowns in charge of all activities on the lines (i.e. Lockouts, cleaning pipes, and draining process lines). Crews consisted of 10-15 operators.

Modified start up procedures to shorten the overall start up time from 18 to 12 hours.

Was active in operators training giving one on one time to explain process steps and process flows for better understanding also held Dailey training on process equip, this was very instrumental in the operator’s development in preparing for the review board so they could advance to the next step. Was an active participant in review board for operators advancing to the next step.

Involved in interviewing prospective candidates.

The 4 crew supervisors (myself included) oversaw our polymer department for 15 months while in the search of a new Operations manager.

Suggested during transitions to lower a acid set point and keeping an injection rate steady throughout the transition to keep IV from dropping to low and causing us longer transition times, this step reduced our Q-3 times from 6 hr to 3 hours. This increased overall production of Q-1reisn

Oversaw batch processing for raw materials makeup and a continuous batch processing for final product.

Utilities Department supplied the hot oil and steam was used in the production process.

Produced a variety of different products for our customers (they are all food grade, two of our biggest are Western Container and Constar). I also

Polymer Technician (Wellman Inc/DAK Americas) 2/1997 - 7/2009

Monitored and controlled process parameters according to our Standard Operating Conditions.

Controls process parameters involved the use of Foxboro and Buhler control systems monitoring everything from temperature to vessel levels and vacuum.

Trouble shoot problems for Instrument and Electrical (I/E) and Maintenance Departments.

Involved in numerous start up’s and shutdown’s (operating the DCS screens and in the field) due to various reasons.

Field responsibilities included maintain all equipment at operating conditions.

2 years in the pre-commissioning process, I was involved in the hydro testing of all our process lines, making punch lists and shooting loops for our electrical/control systems.

Last 8 months I was stationed at NAS Belle Chase in charge of refueling and launching various types of aircraft such as T-38’s, DC-9’s, F-14, 15’s and 16’s, C-130’s and C-5’s.
