This course emphasizes hands-on application of econometric techniques to a variety of publicly available data. Considerable attention will be paid to the nature and sources of economic data and the application of econometric methods to common questions of value to managers and public decision-makers.

Course provides an overview of international trade and finance. Trade theory is applied to understanding the direction of trade flows, the impact of trade barriers, and the role of bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations. The international finance portion of the course will consider the balance of payments, foreign exchange rates, and the globalization of financial markets. Throughout the course attention will be paid to global and national institutional arrangements which determine and influence trade and financial flows.

This course is designed as an introduction to Business Analytics. During the course we consider the use of data, methods, and fact-based management to support and improve organizational decision making. Data and models to explain the performance of a business and how it can be improved are also explored. This course discusses the benefits of employing analytics and a structured approach to problem-solving in various business situations. This course utilizes Excel and a computer simulation.

oIntermediate Microeconomics

This course focuses on the following topics: basic theory of consumer behavior; production and costs; partial equilibrium analysis of pricing in competitive and monopolistic markets; general equilibrium; welfare; and externalities. The approach involves advanced algebra and rigorous application of concepts and methods to the analysis of markets from a decision-making perspective.
