PROFILE

I am a former Chartered Accountant Trainee from FirstRand Ltd. I have close to 3 years in banking experience in the following areas Financial Reporting, Financial Management, Taxation, Management decision-making and internal audit. I would like to study Developmental Finance in the future but right now I am pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration. I would like to be involved in the Development of South Africa and Africa at large and I believe obtaining knowledge in policy frameworks I can come up with innovative solutions to develop Africa.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Chartered Accountant Trainee at FirstRand Ltd, Johannesburg January 2018 — August 2020

As part of the FirstRand CA training programme I got exposed to different roles throughout the FirstRand franchises. I have assumed the following roles in the bank throughout the last 3 years. RMB Corporate Bank- During my first rotation which was about months I was thrown in the deep end and I had to act and perform like an Financial Manager. I had the following duties.

• Monthly reporting of the portfolios I was given to take care of, this involved processing journals on different systems such a Oracle and essbase. I had to construct reconciliations of accounts.

• I had to analyze and monitor costs for the portfolios I had been given. This included producing management and flash reports. I had to investigate and provide reasons for large month on month variances.

• Presented to product heads on a monthly basis on the above mentioned management reports.

• I also interacted with the external auditors and assisted them with any queries relating to my portfolios.

• I achieve all my required Financial Reporting competencies during my first rotation.

• I also assisted with the travel budget for RMB Corporate Bank management. FirstRand Group Treasury - This was my second rotation during my training. I was placed at Group Treasury to obtain my Management Decision-making competencies and assist the team with financial reporting. I performed the following duties.

• Performing monthly reporting to the portfolio of Special purpose vehicles(SPV), High Quality Liquid Assets(HQLA) and 2 insurance portfolios. This included posting journals and performing reconciliations.

• I also had to complete BA returns that are required by the South African Reserve Bank on the HQLA.

• I performed the 2020 budget for the above mentions portfolios during budget season.

• I was charged with guiding the 1st year CA trainee as I was in my 2nd year. I also assisted a newly appointed CA when I handed over the insurance portfolios to her. FirstRand Technical Accounting - I spent a month with the Advisory team where I dealt with any queries from Ashburton, FNB and RMB. I helped my line manager draft opinions and summarize large financial contracts involving repos and cross-swaps with other financial institutions. WesBank Internal Audit - This was the shortest rotation which meant I had to learn and adapt quickly as it was only 2 months. I was charged with a section of the audit of the Asset Backed Finance division. I performed the following.

• I interacted with business in order to obtain the required information to verify accounts and verify procedures and the documented procedure documents.

• Completed a sample audit on the validity, accuracy and completeness of customer accounts that had been reloaded onto the Spif that was sent to the external auditors. Ashburton - At Ashburton I assumed a role of a junior credit analyst which involved completing credit assessment documents for large corporates that Ashburtons fixed income team was exposed to. I did the following

• I went sight visits of companies that required credit term loans from Ashburton. This helped with the analysis of the entities that were under review.

• Compiled credit reviews on JSE listed companies which involved analyzing whether covenants are compliant or breached.

• I presented to the credit committee when my entity was on the schedule which involved taking difficult question from the board as I was charges with the review of the companies given to me.

FirstRand Tax Compliance Centre - Since taxation was not an elective for me the role was limited to completing a few entities tax returns and efiling on the SARS efiling website. I do have sufficient tax knowledge to complete tax returns for large corporate. EDUCATION

January 2015 — December 2016

ABASA_tuks was an upliftment student chapter which held speakers such as Dr. Wiseman Nkuhlu, tutoring students at university level and high scholars. We went to high schools to promote the CA profession to underprivileged and previously disadvantaged scholars. ABASA which stands for the Advancement of Black Accountants in Southern Africa is home for black accounting professional in a profession that is still transforming and a corporate system that is still white and male dominated.
