Employee Relations Manager 2nd Shift – Lumber Bridge Facility

The employee relations manager is responsible for understanding the people needs and support for 3,000+ facility.

Delivering business requirements HR services and support to ensure employees are properly aligned and equipped to deliver business results.

Position Highlights:

Provides guidance to 2nd shift management team on relevant state and federal employee legislation, complex employee relations issues, and union avoidance.

Proactive in balancing employee advocacy while maintaining organizational compliance and consistency.

Thoroughly investigates complex employee relations issues and/or concerns (e.g., investigations related to alleged discrimination and/or harassment, performance management etc.) consistent with company protocol and in a timely fashion, serves as escalation resource for other HR Business Partners within organization.

Develops relationships with and coordinates relevant investigations with business partners and colleagues.

Serves as 2nd shift business partner and advisor to shift management team.

Implements best practices and leverages analytics to drive strategies for retention, culture change, and other team member engagement activities.

Plant HR Manager – Enterprise Facility State-of-the-art fully automated 230,000 square feet production facility which generates over 140 million pounds per year, it is designed for high-speed, high volume production of fully-cooked meat products such as chicken nuggets and hamburger patties.

Responsible for Human Resources and associate relations, recruitment and hiring according to approved staffing levels, oversees salary administration, and associate relations. Responsible for compliance with all company policies and procedures respecting the workplace. Supported the Plant Manager and was an active participant as part of his leadership team in meeting the financial objectives of the plant. This position is the professional conscience of the plant, representing the Company and setting the tone for the level of professionalism, ethics, integrity, and interpersonal relations. This position has responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulatory departments/agencies. Therefore, while it reports directly to plant manager on day-to-day operations, the position also reported directly to the Director, Human Resources. Position had the direct responsibility to promote and maintain a level of professionalism in associate relations at all levels representing Company's culture, focusing on the company’s core values, purpose and adherence to the corporate compliance program and ethical business practices.

Achievements to date:

Entered a facility undergoing rapid expansion and as the first experienced HR practitioner immediately addressed organizational effectiveness, no established HR practices, built facility HR team from the ground up to implement HR best practices and compliance standards, assisted with revamped new hire orientation, employee handbook, introduced HR (SOP’s), facility policies and procedures, job description revision to match standards of work and implemented compensation based pay for performance initiatives. Also championed partnership with leadership team members in the areas of operation, quality, maintenance, safety/health and warehouse to ensure consistent policy compliance facility wide.
