Key Functions & Responsibilities:
Research, select and purchase quality products and materials. This includes meeting suppliers to discuss new and existing product lines, account status and discount structures.
Build or improve relationships with suppliers and negotiate the best pricing and terms.
Benchmarking suppliers, creating journal codes on Navision ERP, housekeeping of data on MS Navision ERP, creating of purchase orders, obtaining correct approvals and expediting of open purchase orders.
Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
Assess quality and of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
Request for quotes (RFQ’s).
Expediting imports and exports, routing of material to suppliers for additional work, returning rejected components or assemblies back to suppliers for rework.
Responsible for reorder reports and adjustments, updating item descriptions on Navision ERP and confirming accuracy of bin locations.
Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
Kitting of printed circuit board BOMS and verifying stock availability.
Writing stock on and off, reclass of stock items to different bins, creating new bin locations on MS Navision ERP and in stores.
GRN of purchase orders and straight invoicing for cash on delivery (COD) purchases.
Liaising closely with the engineering department with regards to BOM specifications/ suitable substitutes.
Liaising with production with regards to outstanding components.
Buying electrical components just in time (JIT) locally and internationally to be utilized in make to order sub-assemblies.
Creating and releasing of production orders.
Consumption of firm planned production orders and updating the OFP status of each cycle.
Updating the budget to actual and report back at the end of the build.
Outsourcing of certain printed circuit board repairs or modifications.
Total project management with regards to contracting, pricing, monitoring, resolving queries and status updates from printed circuit board manufacturers as well as assemblers.
