CAPSCANN™, Pipersville, PA

Lead Design Engineer and Mechanical Engineer 05/2020 - Present Invented the CAPSCANN™. Developed initial design of a temperature monitoring kiosk for the purpose of health security in businesses, schools, places of worship, and other locations during a health emergency, like COVID-19. Procured and negotiated pricing for all parts required in the development and production of the CAPSCANN™ Kiosk system as well as built the kiosks myself. https://docs.health/works/

• Developed the design for the CAPSCANN™ Kiosk with stakeholders and manufacturing as driving factors

• Procured every part necessary for the prototyping, and production of the CAPSCANN™ kiosk

• Sought out, worked with and drove suppliers to take a product from the initial design process to ready for the general market in under 3 months (May – July)

• Re-sourced suppliers to build a secondary TAA compliant design specifically for marketing towards the Federal space

• Designed, sourced materials, and found manufacturers for a wall mounted solution as a cost-effective alternative to a pre-purchased version

• Troubleshooted and corrected design flaws, user damage, transport damage, and upgrades to existing solutions to better protect and function for our system

• Featured in WPI alumni magazine for helping pioneer a post-pandemic world

• Two patents pending in my name for both design and utility

Permasteelisa North America, Windsor, CT

Inventor Modeler (JR) 06/2019 - 05/2020

Designed and modeled solutions to Field Non-Conformity Reports (FNCR) as they were reported from the towers as well as floor design for concrete pouring. These FNCR’s included retrofitting solutions for field damages, manufacturer issues and user preference changes that were discovered on site, well after the panels were installed.

• Designed a creative replaced curtain wall panels for fire damage on 425 Park AVE, NYC

• Engineered solutions and developed BOMs for production of replacement panels for 121 damaged zinc curtain-wall panels on Central Park Tower (217 W 57th St)

• Worked in a team of two on concrete embedded anchors and arranged concrete sleeves for “The Spiral” (66 Hudson Boulevard, NYC)

• In a team of four, corrected panel arrangement and packing list with building destinations for parapet coping on NYU building. (181 Mercer Street, NYC)

• 3D modeled a retro-fit osculating window unit for One57 Tower (157 W 57th St, NYC)

SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineering Capstone, Major Qualifying Project (MQP) Mechanical Engineer and Part Designer August 2018 – May 2019 Re-designed and re-3D Printed an existing system for active control of a “Baxter Nursing Robot” with the goal of enhanced user friendliness, smoothness of controls, and quality of parts. Improve the Tele-Robotic Intelligence Nursing Assistant (TRINA) system into a functioning active robot puppet-controller. https://web.wpi.edu/Pubs/E-project/Available/E-project-042***-******/unrestricted/Final_Robopuppet_Report_2018-2019.pdf

• Redesigned an active robot-puppet with two 7 DOF “arms” that mirror the existing Baxter nursing robot’s design with the goal of an intuitive controller for nurses.

• Implemented and mounted motor and hall-encoder systems in 3D printed components that controlled the robot-puppet arms for haptic feedback and gravity resistance

ME4320 IRobot Roomba Prototype Project

Lead designer and prototype manufacturer August 2018 – October 2018 In a team of four college seniors, I was the primary modeler and 3D print manufacturer in a design effort to create a functioning prototype for automated modular movement retrofitted on an existing Roomba model.

• Reverse engineered an old model of Roomba provided to us by IRobot

• Designed and fabricated a gimbal system based off a camera mount for angular adjustment, a linear adjustment that allowed the hold to move in the Y-Axis, and a customized adapter plate to attach to actual Roomba parts

• Manufactured the frame using friction welding and manipulation of 3D prints
