The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) is dedicated to providing outstanding health services, education, and research to keep the people of Brooklyn and greater New York healthy. We will be a destination provider of top-quality and compassionate health care. The Brooklyn Hospital Center has a 171 year history dating back to 1845. Today, it is a 464 bed community, teaching hospital, and provides a full range of primary, specialty, diagnostic and tertiary care with a team of outstanding physicians, nurses and staff.

Assists the Chair of the Department of Surgery, the Programmatic Manager, Bariatric Coordinator, 2 Dietitians/Nutritionists and 5 other essential departmental staff.

Registers & Schedules patients for upcoming/follow-up appointments, and enters all patient demographic information into the computer accurately and in a timely fashion.

Verifies and collects insurance and referral information from the patient. Collects co-payments, when necessary.

Secures authorizations for surgeries, office/clinic procedures and hospital stays, which may include, MRI,CT Scans, Vascular Testing, Pulmonary Testing, Angiograms, Nuclear Tests and Psychological Exams.

Schedules and confirms patients’ appointments. Including arranges patient transportation, and Metro-Card vouchers as needed.

Sets up and maintains physical and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other material.

Maintains office/clinic inventory of supplies. As well as orders clinic/office supplies.

Maintains calendar and may coordinate that calendar with the calendars of others.
