Volkswagen SA [Electrical Traineeship]
June 2010 to November 2013
I was on a 3-year contract at Volkswagen South Africa as an Electrical trainee. The training included (3 phase and single phase motor control, wiring and schematic circuit designing; Industrial and Commercial wiring and layout designing; Motors and Starters; Transformers; Basic Plc’s; PT’s and CT’s; Basic Hand Tools; KWH metering single phase and 3 phase). I have worked alongside maintenance artisans, assisting them with day to day breakdowns on the production lines.
This includes CNC machines, conveyor belts, fault finding on electrical circuits and electrical testing on motors.
Reason for leaving: Traineeship ended.
AIDC Eastern Cape [Trainee Project Manager]
November 2014 – September 2015
AIDC EC (Automotive Industry Development Centre) gave me a 1 year fixed term contract where I attended classes to improve my skills and knowledge on Project Management. I have worked at SJM Flex South Africa for 4 months through AIDC EC assisting the company with: TPM (Total Productive Maintenance);
Capability studies to see if their current machines are capable of producing good parts and whether the parts they producing are in customer specifications and their internal specifications. Most importantly if the machine is capable of reaching the required target per shift; and
Time studies on selected production processes where improvement was needed. (Checking downtime, run time on the machine, operator cycle times, takt times, start-up time and cleaning time).
