Western Connecticut Health Network
Developed a new Pediatric Hospitalist Program at Norwalk Hospital in 2007, and in 2014 transformed it into an integrated model of pediatric hospitalist coverage across the WCHN network, providing pediatric coverage to 2 acute care units and ED, with transfer protocols across all three hospitals in order to enhance level of care and reduce pediatric transfers out of the Network.
Established and maintained a departmental affiliation with Children’s and Women’s Physicians of Westchester, now renamed the Boston Children’s Physician Group.
oThis strategic affiliation resulted in increased support for hospital-based pediatric services such as neonatal, hospitalist and emergency medicine, as well as increased outpatient community access to pediatric sub-specialty care.
With institutional and donor support, led the initiative and opened the Pediatric Sub-Specialty Center at Norwalk Hospital in 2009, as a separate, child-friendly space where the above specialties are housed. Comprehensive, family-centered care model with clinical coordinator/navigator in place.
Together with hospital leadership and community philanthropic support, piloted the Pediatric Development and Therapy Center (PDTC) at Norwalk Hospital in 2011, for children with developmental disabilities.
Developed, in collaboration with leadership from Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology, a high-quality pediatric surgical service at Norwalk Hospital, with focus on pediatric urology, general surgery and pediatric gastroenterology.
Through collaboration with medical and administrative leadership, elevated the 14-bed Neonatal ICU at Norwalk Hospital to a solid level 3, able to care for premature newborns down to 26 weeks post-gestational age.
Introduced fetal echocardiography services to WCHN through pediatric affiliation channels, helping to establish a comprehensive fetal echocardiography and pediatric cardiology consultation service for the Women’s and Children’s Service Line.
Collaborated in establishing an undergraduate medical education program in Pediatrics across the Network, as part of a larger branch-campus initiative with University of Vermont.
