Bay Area Technology School, Oakland, CA January 2019—Present
Superintendent/Chief Financial Officer
Re-imagined a troubled LEA (district) to become a top performing Title I district that serves students in grades 6-12. Created the “BayTech” model of education that utilizes assistive technology, explicit direct instruction and artificial intelligence to deliver personalized learning for students. Re-designed the school to meet all the legal, compliance, fiscal and organizational requirements required by the school’s charter authorizer, the California Department of Education and the Office of Civil Rights.
Liaise with Board of Directors to create & implement strategic plans to achieve organizational growth, reorganize the school to create student academic growth opportunities and student/faculty retention strategies. Successfully worked with all stakeholders to respond to Notices of Concern from the former administration and became a school in Good Standing. Redesigned the legal, financial and reporting departments of the organization.
Function as the LEA’s Chief Academic Officer; implementing the school’s new English, ELD, math, special education and science curriculums. Implemented research and data driven instruction that allowed for the creation of culturally relevant lessons and practices that improved student test scores and student agency.
Redesigned all facets of the school: student support, special education, food services, facilities, back office services, branding and parent engagement.
Serve as the school’s primary business, compliance, and communications officer. Developed a successful community branding campaigns that increased admissions by 23%, and closed grants worth $1,500,000.
Manuel F. Cunha Intermediate School, Half Moon Bay, CA 2017 – 2019
Principal
Led the school through a traumatic period of time due to the condemnation of the main classroom building. Worked with faculty, staff, parents and district to implement the new strategic plan. Worked directly with the School Board President to create and implement a special program aimed at serving foster, migrant and long-term English language learners.
Helped to implement two new all-school curriculums (English and mathematics).
Developed a comprehensive ELD program tailored to California State requirements. Successfully implemented
i-Ready and AVID EXCEL programs that increased ELD re-designation by 200%.
Raised more than $250,000 for special programs from area foundations and donors.
Oak Grove Middle School, Concord, CA 2015 – 2017
Vice-Principal & Summer School Principal
Designed, implemented, supervised, and assessed a new humanities curriculum to help turn around a low-performing middle school. The curriculum includes the execution of a school-wide precision reading and an integrated writing program. Directly supervised 10 teachers. Lead the Williams Visit, implemented all 504 plans and 8th grade IEP’s. Lead a 150-student summer school comprised of: Title I, SPED, Severely Handicapped, Honors Math 8, 7th grade “ALD boot camp,” and ELD 1-4.
Served as lead administrator for 8th grade class, providing a full array of student support services. This led to 8th grade promotion of 100% for two continuous years.
Created a school wide ELD intervention plan. Successfully implemented school wide ELD re-designation program that increased re-designations by 1,000% and met all the elements of the Office of Civil complaint.
At the Superintendent’s request, led the school-wide committee to become an IB candidate Middle Years programme.

General Counsel and Senior Vice President—American Heart Association, Chicago, IL 1998-2003—specializing in commercial real estate, tax, estate/probate, employment, contracts, program related investments and managing outside counsel including fraud, forensic accounting and insurance claims.
Legal Education Consultant—Boley Law, Alameda, CA 945**-****-****--—worked as an educational legal consultant to partners. Wrote questions for depositions, counselled clients, evaluated cases and conducted document review.
