Relevant Professional Experience

Registered Nurse University of Washington – Seattle, WA 06/1992 – 06/2002

I worked in a medical/surgical unit with emphasis on Neurosurgery/GI/ENT for six years, tending up to eight patients on a daily basis; coordinated all of their medicines, documentation, and medical procedures. I then transferred to their level 4 NICU for the next four years.

Registered Nurse ICU MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital – Tacoma, WA 07/2002 – 08/2018

I was a patient advocate, implementing total patient care through a primary care nursing process; covering 1-3 high acuity patients per shift. I was actively involved in the staffing committee for 5 years, and was the unit-based chairperson for 2 years. I developed and maintained quality care systems and standards, including but not limited to, creating and improving medical protocols/guidelines.

As well, I also trained over 20 different staff nurses to provide top quality neonatal patient care, received my RNC in NICU nursing, and provided lactation education to new nursing mothers.

Registered Nurse Admit/Recovery Rainer Surgical Center – Federal Way, WA 09/2018 – 12/2020

I was the nurse responsible for giving Admit Instructions on patients having ENT or Urology type surgeries (day surgery). I also provided postoperative care to patients that had ENT/Urology surgery, under general anesthesia. I would give medications required, remove lines and then give at home discharge instructions. I would also follow up with patients and provide postop information.
