Ms. Monique Williams and/or Hiring Manager
Monique Inc., and The Engagement Group
***** ******* ****., Suite 248
Shaker Heights, OH 44120
Dear Ms. Williams and Hiring Manager:
I wish to express my highest level of interest and enthusiasm in applying for the Executive Assistant position at Monique Inc., and The Engagement Group in Cleveland. I have come to know Ms. Monique Williams as a pioneer in the business consulting industry specifically with regard to lifting up disenfranchised communities and marginalized people. I read with admiration Ms. Williams’s story on the About pages of The Engagement Group and the Monique Inc. websites, and I fully believe in her mission. It would be my privilege to support Ms. Williams and her clients, and advance the company’s goals in achieving its fantastic mission. I anticipate professional growth and excitement working in such an inspiring organization.
My first semester of college my mother and I left my abusive father and moved into a one-bedroom apartment in Kent, Ohio. Up until that point I had not known what it was like to live without money. I worked throughout college, and my college tuition was paid for through scholarships and my mother’s incredible budgeting skills. My final semester at Kent State University was spent in Washington D.C., in the Washington Program in National Issues (WPNI). I was an intern at The Larrison Group, a political consulting firm. During this time, I gained skills in government relations, through event coordinating and fundraising for political campaigns. I handled confidential and time sensitive materials with the utmost discretion and supported the implementation of strategic action plans. Following the internship, I was hired in Washington as a lobbyist for the Health and Medicine Counsel of Washington, a bipartisan health lobbying firm. I was the youngest lobbyist, and one of the few women in the male-dominated field. During this time, I acquired skills in communicating complicated legislative concepts between multiple parties, keeping track of documentation, assisted with patient advocacy and worked closely with the president of the Health and Medicine Counsel of Washington. My work involved scheduling complicated meetings and events, interacting and managing relationships with congressional staff, members of the House of Representatives, Senators, and leaders at the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control to ensure the passing of proposed legislation.
I believe my previous work experiences have prepared me to meet the challenges of the varying executive support and administrative responsibilities required of the position. I bring sound judgment, critical thinking, detail-orientation, time management, and a strong work ethic. I am comfortable working in fast-paced environments, embracing new technologies and strengthening teams of people. I would be pleased to provide additional information or clarification about my background.
I welcome the opportunity to learn more about Monique Inc. and The Engagement Group. The best way to reach me is by cell phone at 202-***-**** or email at adj1w5@r.postjobfree.com. Many thanks for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Andrea Orszag
