WORK EXPERIENCE

Helen Keller International: Adamawa State from March, 2020 till Date.

Position: Program Associate

Roles and Responsibilities.

Liaise with the nutrition unit of the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) or State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (SPHCDA) and other relevant Ministries to develop costed nutrition strategic work plan.

Train beneficiaries on Enhanced Homestead Food Production (EHFP) including the small provision of agriculture inputs (like seeds, seedling and cuttings) to grow a variety of nutrient-rich food crops such as orange –fleshed sweet potato, green leafy vegetables, yellow cassava, vitamin A-enriched maize, etc., at household and community level.

Provide technical assistant n training beneficiaries on Community-Led Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Mother-led Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement including active case findings, screening, and referral while working with local authorities, public health service providers and community members to improve access to key services for the management and treatment of acute malnutrition.

Build the capacity of beneficiaries in planning and implementing Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) interventions including promoting Essential Nutrition Action (ENA) and Essential Hygiene Action (EHA).

Support training on appropriate Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices and promote access to clean water among IDPs living within the host communities of Fufore LGA.

Facilitate Program planning and review meeting on all key nutrition –specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions being implemented by the program (Enhanced Homestead Food Production, Community–led Management of Acute Malnutrition, Essential Nutrition Action and Essential Hygiene Actions).

Maintain regular communication with state nutrition program partners and other relevant stakeholders.

Work closely with State Nutrition Officers to strengthen technical reporting in accordance with defined reporting schedule and program indicators.

Support Program monitoring and evaluation and the implementation of baseline and end-line Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) surveys among project beneficiaries.

Assist the program officer to analyze, interpret and present data in useful formats and disseminate findings to relevant stakeholders to promote timely decision making and course correction.

Send Monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Support implementation of other relevant nutrition activities such as Vitamin A supplement, Food fortification, healthy lifestyle project, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities.

Follow up with LGA Nutrition Focal Person to implement agreed monthly activities within the LGA of assignment.

Position: Health Officer

Roles and Responsibilities.

Supported Nutrition and Health Officers to update and maintain 5W/4W mapping tool and Deputy Nutrition and Health Manager.

Monitored if all health facilities/sites have adequate supplies to delivery uninterrupted health care services through identifying needs, on regular basis.

Conducted periodic capacity assessment of health workers on CMAM services delivery, IMCI service delivery, Reproductive health service delivery, vaccination, morbidities etc. and review the training needs and/or coaching needs.

Closely coordinate with WASH team to ensure appropriate WASH facilities in the targeted CMAM sites.

Assisted the PHP &NFI officer in context assessment and developing materials for hygiene promotion.

Liaise with community mobilization Officers and Health system strengthening Officers for accessing community care group.

Ensured that appropriate referral of patients is maintained within the CMAM and Health components (OPT, SFP, SC, IMCI, ANC/PNC).

Position: Community Mobilization Officer

Roles and Responsibilities.

Acting as a links between the organization and the beneficiaries (at LGA level).

With the program manager, develop coherent messages and pass them to the community about AAH mandate, program objectives and approach.

Build trust between AAH and the community.

Under the responsibility of the Health & Nutrition Deputy Program Manager and in cooperation with health facility staff, AAH Clinic Supervisor and village leaders, identifies the community volunteers to be trained for acute malnutrition case identification and referral as well as public health promotion activities.

Conducted regularly the supervision of volunteers in the field and to evaluate the adherence of the trained volunteers to the correct nutritional screening, referral of cases and dissemination of public health promotion topics. This includes not only supervision but mentoring/coaching/on the job trainings.

Ensured the community sensitization on relevant topic related to the trainings.

Conducted Bi-weekly and monthly meetings with the community leaders and community volunteers.

Ensured the supervision and monitoring of the implementation of active screening activities by the health facility staffs in the first phase of the program (detection of cases, referral, and follow-ups). The community health mobilizer will work together with the community volunteers in the first phase of the project to do active screening in order to monitor the skills of the community volunteers and to introduce.
