Dear Madam/Sir:
Presently, I have started my fortieth consecutive year as a teacher, and I have taught in both the high school and college areas. Since 1998 I have taught American fiction, poetry, film, and composition at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. In the span of those years I have received numerous teaching awards and citations, including three separate nominations for the Golden Apple Award, and three (student nominated) Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers award. In addition, throughout the length of those years, I’ve published poetry, short stories, and essays in several different magazines, including a feature articles on Chicago writer Harry Mark Petrakis, which appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times. Notwithstanding, I have published four books of poetry and short stories since the spring of 2001.
I immediately desired to apply for the job I came across, accidentally, described on your site. I believe I am the perfect personality for this position, with a solid background in English, education, writing, and publishing. I hope you might seriously consider me for this position, as it seems to me that I am in possession of many of the requirements you describe as important and necessary. I look forward to the possibility of speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Spencer Michael Farmans
