Research and respond to decisions and determinations that have been formally appealed or referred to an administrative hearing officer. Consequently, extend settlement offers; negotiate settlements; draft persuasive policy positions, explaining the agency’s determination and applying law and agency policy to individual cases.

Apply the applicable statutes, rules, policies, and procedures to the facts of the immediate case.

Prepare the agency’s written position to appeal, providing a detailed and persuasive presentation of the agency’s position. This will include a history and description of the case, explanation of when and how the violation of the rules and policies occurred, citations of all relevant statutes/rules/policies, and including a legal analysis of the law and agency policy to the facts of the case.
