Senior Vice President, Operations & Supply Chain

Oversaw and directed all aspects of operations and supply chain for this rapidly growing startup company. Totally accountable for near term and strategic plans, operational excellence, administration, management of logistics and supplier sourcing in alignment with operational objectives. Cultivated relationships with key operational team members, automation partners, suppliers and led efforts to ensure required, near and far term productivity increases and cost of goods sold (COG’s) reduction improvements. Provided leadership to four direct and up to seventy-four indirect reports while driving operations and fulfillment automation chain design and build-out to support the company’s evolution from startup to midsize company status of $150MM in gross sales using substantial hands on leadership, planning, operations, supply chain and S&OP implementation experience.

Led and motivated startup operations and supply chain team that doubled production in sixty days and quadrupled it in five months to meet burgeoning demand utilizing winsome leadership, training, additional resource optimization and accountability.

Within sixty days and with only broad, abstract guidance, designed strategic plan to build supply chain to support growth of startup to $150MM gross sales.

Strategic plan included design and purchase of substantial, robotic and semi-automatic equipment with 5X and 6X productivity increase capabilities in operations and fulfillment, improving labor costs from .50 to .05 cents per vessel in manufacturing.

Trained and initiated the S&OP system and accompanying scheduling and strategic forecasting systems that produced excellent results to enable near term demand growth and long-term strategic growth to potential of $150MM.

Initiated strategic, TCO type procurement initiatives that had dramatically reduced material and ingredient shorts and which was providing initial savings levels in key categories up to nearly 50%.

Voluntarily resigned after not being able to reach a contractual agreement that would lock in equity stake that I had accepted in lieu of my higher historic salary levels. Position was accepted during the Covid crisis to avoid moving my family during the apex of the crisis.

Oversaw and directed all aspects of supply chain operations, holding accountability for the plan, administration, and management of logistics and supplier sourcing in alignment with operational objectives. Cultivated relationships with key suppliers and led efforts to ensure adherence to all defined contract terms. Provided leadership to seven direct and 35 indirect reports while driving ongoing process and performance improvement through the enhancement of standard operating procedures and deployment of transportation key performance metrics.

Directed the development and execution of commodity strategies, spanning the bean oil, organics, resin, paper, dairy, sweetener, and many other markets. Leveraged an advanced understanding of economic, technical, and commitment of traders (COT) practices and principles to support operations. Optimized the consistency and quality of logistical processes and performance. Defined procurement and risk management policies in partnership with executive leadership. Built strategic alliances with vendors and suppliers to support procurement needs.
