Shipping and Production Supervisor

Supervised a crew of 8 to 14 people in the shipping department. Also responsible for overseeing the production crew once a week and worked with their manager daily to help with the 15 to 20 employees he supervised. Took the lead in all training of employees and championed ISO9001 training. I reviewed work schedules and records of employees and recommended appropriate actions to be taken. Safety and Quality were my main concerns and all employees were trained in all areas of safety and quality, which was ongoing to ensure world class performance. Production improved only after safety and quality improved. Met with outgoing supervisor daily and with all supervisors and managers weekly to discuss problems, goals, achievements, and upcoming production runs. Also ran a 10 ton overhead crane and trained crew members to operate the crane to load product on packing stations and flatbed trailers. Performed quality checks on all product and trained each member of my crew to do likewise. Led quality and production initiatives by cross-training and utilizing each team member to reach all safety, quality, and production goals (employee empowerment). We utilized FIFO, just-in-time, and lean manufacturing principles during my time at Alcoa. Set reasonable, achievable goals for employees to reach, and rewarded them when they did. The results, my team achieved the highest production rate, fewest quality defects, and no OSHA recordable accidents for one year, as we met shipping goals daily.
