System Development Plans (ARP4754A based)
SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Developed, Tested, and Installed Spoiler Jam Unit in Flight Test Aircraft. Enabled diagnosis of effects of spoiler jams at various positions. Proved to be an excellent diagnostic tool and is now successfully marketed as a tool to move aircraft surfaces without using actual aircraft electronics.
Assigned to lead C919 Flap/Slat System development project for Chinese Aircraft Company on the Iron Bird. Pushed for and Implemented safety protocols, potentially saving lives.
Wrote Requirements, Developed, Tested, and Installed C919 Iron Bird Flight Test Recorder and the Onboard Maintenance Computer Simulator for COMAC. This GSE (ground support equipment) was delivered under budget and two months early. Company profited $1.5 Million on 3 Systems. Enabled company to be the first to have a fully functional system on the C919.
Developed the Emerald Test Executive, using Excel Mapping - co-developed at BAE and enhanced on the X47B program, facilitating “White” box testing at the System Test Level.
Investigated first flight crash of Unmanned Helicopter. Diagnosed root cause. Provided solution (SW). Later found Actuator BIT issues and power backup design flaw. Added FITS testing. Thereafter, test group was given responsibility for approving test flights.
Developed Ground Support Equipment (Top Secret) for an Air Force Project. Despite company not winning the program, the Air Force preferred our GSE concept and required that contract winner to implement it.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
MOOG, INC. – Aircraft Group, Torrance, CA, September, 2005 – October, 2019, Senior Staff Systems Engineer
System lead on multiple aircraft projects. Prepared Requirements Definitions & Developed essential documents. Led and managed system integration & testing. Managed and conducted functional & requirement based testing. Prepared Qualification Test Plans for Environmental, System & SW Tests. Provided aircraft level customer support on Iron Bird and Integration Rig in China.
Lead for: Bombardier C-300 Biz Jet (Spoiler and Pitch Systems), Gulfstream G500, G600, & G650 (Flap Systems), Airbus A350, C919 Chinese (A320 Knockoff), Boeing 747 LCE (ACU only), Northrop Emerald (unmanned) and X47 (unmanned).
Wrote System Development Documents, Qualification Test Plans (, Interface Control Documents, and wrote our own System Requirements Specification (normally written by the customer, COMAC).
Wrote Test Equipment Requirement Specifications (TERS) for Integration Rig (IR) with UK builders; wrote TERS for the System and Software Workstation (SSW); wrote TERS for the Iron Wing (IW) and integrated and validated each Rig. The C919 was Moog’s first Commercial Program Model Based Design. The SSW used the Simulink actuation model.
Authored and maintained the C19, G500 and G600 test cases and scripts for both manual and automated tests in SVN, keeping tests under configuration control and archiving the test rationale and test artifacts.
Developed the EMI Test Equipment Requirements and Integrated the Test Sets for the C919, Emerald and Bombardier Programs. Supported the EMI Group during test, validating testing and addressing faults.
For the C919 Program, worked on-site in China to design the EMI Cables.
For the Emerald Program, designed the EMI cables and provided the design for fabrication.
Managed the conversion of the G650 Rig to be used for G500. Authored TERS for the G600 Rig. Integrated and validated both Rigs for entry into Formal SOF testing. Wrote the Test Procedures for the Gulfstream G500 and G600. Successfully led the SOF campaigns for the two programs. NI Labview based.
NORTHROP GRUMMAN, Rancho Bernardo, CA, July, 2004 – September, 2005, Senior Test Engineer
Led the Pre-Flight Test Group.
Lead Systems Engineer for: Future Combat System Simulation Lab Setup, Firescout – Unmanned Helicopter
Expanded testing started in 2003. Developed a tool that created the test plan (the tests to be run based on SW changes and what hadn’t been run in previous Flight Test campaigns). Reduced time, cost and human error in selecting Test Plan Test Cases.
Wrote Test Equipment Requirements. Interfaced with the TE Group and Lab team. Successfully built, integrated, and validated the Test Rig and the Lab Assets for the Future Combat System.
BAE SYSTEMS INC., Santa Monica, CA, July, 2003 – July, 2004, Senior Test Engineer
Lead System Engineer and Lead Test & Integration Engineer for Bell Helicopter BA-609 tilt rotor. Managed schedule, requirements, requirements validation and verification.
Supported BAE SW Group and Bell System Test Group at the customer’s site, analyzing in-house test results and VMSIL test results.
Assessed System requirements, customer requirements, and demands, thereby maintaining relationship between customer and BAE Management.
System Lead supporting the off-site EMI test system setup and the EMI test staff, validating and addressing any faults. Assembled and integrated the test system and proceeded on-time without penalties.
Effectively directed, managed and facilitated communications between the Software team, Electronics Group and Customer (Bell Helicopter, Texas), ensuring all stakeholders had awareness of the program’s progress and issues. Effectively kept the team on-track.
NORTHROP GRUMMAN (ENSCO), Rancho Bernardo, CA, February, 2003 – August, 2003, Contractor
Assigned by Lockheed Martin, Johnson City, NY as Test Team Lead to investigate the first flight-crash of the Firescout.
