Resume:

Andrew Emerson Buswell

Portland, OR & Vancouver, WA 360-***-**** adiqvk@r.postjobfree.com

Hello! My name is Andrew Buswell, and for the last 12 years I’ve been thoroughly invested in project management and marketing in the technology, craft beer, and run specialty industries. With my vast experience bringing complex programs to completion, I know I would be a great fit in this role! Thank you for your time and consideration! Program Management

While my project management experience may have started earlier than 2010, I attribute my hypergrowth within this discipline and project management in general to my career at Road Runner Sports. I was approached by Road Runner to scale-up and produce a monthly experiential marketing event I had created in Portland called “The Adventure Run”. In the first year I focused on proving its concept and completed 35 events across 4 cities. The event was highly successful, and soon I shifted from project management to program management. This included writing a 40-page training manual, as well as PM’ing everything from the creative copy, permitting, risk assessments, budgeting (P&L reporting), and executive reporting to a large list of stakeholders. At the end of its 5th year the program had completed 700+ events, reaching over 175k attendees. More importantly, it was a time of tremendous growth in my managerial career. I had directly hired, trained, and developed over 35 remote field marketing reps, while also producing the largest recurring group run in the nation. ROI & Business Acumen

In 2016 I was relocated to Bend, OR to project manage the full events portfolio for Deschutes Brewery, which at the time was the 6th largest craft brewery in the US. One of my first tasks was creating an ROI model for each program, as well as defining how they were supporting the brand and marketing initiatives. This deep dive into the numbers resulted in a scoring system I created for each event, bringing some proportionate justification behind the investments that were being made. Furthermore, I was charged with finding and presenting solutions for any inefficiencies within the marketing department. This tour of duty in the events industry challenged me to solve problems that many event marketing departments don’t take on: the profitability and direct marketing impact of the events they create. Project Management

Finally, for the last 2.5 years I’ve been project managing the overall logistics and vendor teams for some of Microsoft’s largest tech events including Microsoft Ignite (30k attendees) and Microsoft Business Applications Summit (5k attendees). This has challenged me to project manage on a massive scale and become a skilled expert at navigating internal buy-in from multiple business groups and stakeholders along the way. I’ve directly managed all necessary workstreams within the Microsoft event structure, including venue sourcing, registration, demand generation, logistics, content, and keynote production. This chapter in my career has been defined by huge growth in project management as well as budget and executive reporting. Most important has been my experience with managing C-level stakeholder groups and continually updating project performance.

International Philanthropy

In 2007 I started a nonprofit organization from the ground up called The Ethiopia Project. It was, and still is, my way of giving back and staying grounded. This experience has led to multiple trips in country, helping to rebuild a school, and giving away thousands of shoes to those in need. Throughout the process, I’ve learned contract negotiations, funding, how to maintain and manage a board of directors, and most importantly, how to literally change the world. In my next position I hope to bring a little bit of my experience from the nonprofit sector, which has been so valuable to me personally and professionally.

Cheers,

ANDREW BUSWELL, PMP
