Registered Phlebotomy Technician. 23 years of experience in the Phlebotomy field as a Phlebotomist, Lead Phlebotomist, Supervisor and Manager. Working in a variety of Positions and department like The Hospital, Health Center, Independent Lab, Home care collecting specimens from patients from age 0months to geriatric, performing Heel stick, finger stick, venous draw. I became a Phlebotomist in 1992 and worked my way to a Lead phlebotomist; this position was a learning steppingstone which allowed growth in a very sensitive area in the workplace. Delegating task to employees of all ages, religion and gender, which allowed employees to have a good work relationship that made it possible for employee moral to excel, causing a decrease in late/tardiness and absent, as well as injury and patient error, increasing revenue. Since great leadership was demonstrated it would qualify me for the position as a Phlebotomy and Point of Care Supervisor. This position required a large amount of responsibility, and accountability. Supervision of many employees, organizational skills are challenged and stressed, a critical thinker, model employee, responsible delegator, Honest, reliable, dependable, Team player, Trainer, Budgeting, monitor staff, implement changes with staff involvement, documented purposeful meetings, incentive reward system. Create/implement/train employees on new (SOP) Standing Order Procedure that are created due to new equipment or amended laws to service patients. I had the privilege to work with the State Lab to create and implement the Rapid HIV program at Martha Eliot Health Center, a satellite of Children’s Hospital Boston. I trained at Siemens as an engineer on small urinalysis instruments like the Clinitek Status, Hemocue, and DCA 2000 which are POCT instruments.
