For 9 years of my life, I participated in NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association). This was a program in which you practiced certain musical pieces, then performed them in front of a judge. For levels 1-4 you are graded out of 28, but for levels 5 and 6 you are graded out of 100. I played both piano and violin for NYSSMA and received three medals in total for a few of my performances. Stranger Sagas: Tales from the Empire State

In my senior year of high school, my English teacher helped me sign up for a short story competition in which the winners' stories would be published in a short story book. I was one of the three winners in my school, with my 100 word story, titled "Psychosis", eventually becoming a part of Stranger Sagas: Tales from the Empire State.
