Tracking, analyzing, and providing key-support and strategic advice, to the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on a wide range of operational and policy issues related to the Natural and Ocean Sciences. I also provide strategic analyzes on the world’s patterns and trends in science, technology and innovation, as well as on region-specific and global challenges related to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. I also propose new policies and management changes pertaining to Science, Technology and Innovation, climate resilience, biodiversity protection and ocean health projects while supporting the decision making process and ensuring the implementation of the decisions made. I piloted several high-level negotiations and multi-million fund raising initiatives with multinational companies. I piloted several high-level political negotiations and multi-million fund raising initiatives with multinational companies. I use my analysis skills and my managerial competencies on a daily-basis. Several international travels on mission undertaken.
Deputy Executive Secretary
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) - Paris (75) May 2014 to January 2018
Ensured the day-to-day management of the service and liaised with the Scientific Board of the Programme. Ensured the learning to development process for partners, and developed science policy dialogues. Following the priority of the UNESCO to design and implement an ambitious science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiative, I worked on the establishment of a platform for consultation, synergy development and leverage of funding for STEM, from within the network of United Nations and other international organizations. Devised and raised 90 million USD for a project aiming at creating a complete set of doctoral training programmes and a science park in Africa funded by the African Development Bank. Drove the planning, implementation, management, and monitoring of capacity-building and policy activities in the science education. These include the Global Microscience Programme of UNESCO – an early childhood and curriculum development programme -- implemented in more than 50 countries. Oversight of policy studies and negotiations at ministry level.Several international travels on mission undertaken. Assistant Programme Specialist
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) - Paris (75) October 2011 to April 2014
Responsible for the mathematics, physics and science education programmes at UNESCO Headquarters, where I used statistical data to orient, monitor and apply corrective measures to the programme. Established and implemented the International Year of Light in 2015, of Crystallography in 2014, of Mathematics of Planet Earth in 2013. I piloted the creation of several training and research centres associated to UNESCO in the domain of the basic sciences and science education. I successfully raised more than 500,000 USD for projects around the globe.30% international travels on mission.
University Lecturer and Researcher Associate
University of Tours - Tours (37)
September 2007 to August 2011
Ensured mathematics and physics lectures at graduate and under-graduate levels. Provided intellectual leadership in my research group and actively contributed in the intellectual life of the Laboratory of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics of the University of Tours, through collaborative research and the organization of seminars and conferences. My main achievement in terms of research was the development of an algorithm to decipher the (super)symmetries of semi-classical systems based on killing tensors. This algorithm and applications were published in prestigious international scientific journals (see my publication list).
Visiting Scientist
Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics (NIKHEF) - Amsterdam, NL January 2010 to March 2010
Developed and published scientific research findings in prestigious international physics journal. Contributed in public conferences.
Lecturer
University of Abomey Calavi - Cotonou, Benin
June 2007 to August 2007
Ensured mathematics and physics lectures at graduate and under-graduate levels. Actively contributed to the intellectual life of the Chair. As Principal Educator, I created hands-on learning activities supporting the national science curriculum. I also mentored high-schools children in their choice of scientific studies and potential careers.
