Performed project and application engineering duties at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) for the Site Operations Services (SOS) contract to prepare Statements of Work (SOW) for Federal General Plant Project construction contracts and day to day engineering and maintenance issues. The construction contracts included facility designs, repairs, and replacements of existing systems and components. Engineering recommendation reports and associated technical documents such as CAD drawings, calculations, material specifications, and project costs were developed for offsite contractors and site maintenance personnel to perform installations. Peer reviews of various engineering packages, reports, drawings, and cost estimates were also performed. Additionally, construction contract oversite and quality assurance activities were performed for off-site contractors performing under the SOS contract and for site maintenance installations including providing project insight and technical information presented at Activity Hazard Analysis review meetings. Knowledge of the government requirements for purchases was also utilized when preparing purchase orders for labor, materials, and components for activities pertaining to federal regulations and site environmental, safety, and health requirements. Federal, State and Local construction code adherence was practiced for multiple projects utilizing the International Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Pennsylvania Public Utility Code, ASHRAE, ASME, ANSI, and NFPA. Contributed to energy audit reports and major cost estimations for facility changes.

September 19, 2012 to January 31, 2015:

Mechanical Engineer, Goldbelt Eagle LLC., 626 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15236, under the SOS contract for the NETL Pittsburgh Site. The Goldbelt main office is at 13900 Lincoln Park Drive, Suite 310, Herndon VA 20171.

Duties were similar as described above for the SOS contract working for Amentum. In addition performed code compliance and design analysis for the following types of facility equipment; replacement and upgrade of HVAC equipment, alterations of natural gas utility lines, exhaust fan systems, site cryogenic nitrogen system alterations and refurbishing, handrail installations, laboratory reverse osmosis water filtration system upgrades, laboratory sinks and exhaust hoods, site air compressor replacements and piping upgrades, structural mezzanine replacements, pump system designs/installations, modifications and additions to electrical distribution and service panels, and exterior architectural replacements. Civil designs for parking lot gutter curbs, catch basin systems, and hill stabilization with rock cages. Investigated roof and floor loading capacities for static and dynamic loading.

Presented a Power Point presentation for the Pittsburgh Nitrogen cryogenic storage system to NETL Site Operations Division director and DOE division personnel for ASME B31.3 pressure relief analysis and changes.

January 15, 2010 to September 19, 2012:

Mechanical Engineer, URS Washington Division, 3610 Collins Ferry Road Morgantown, WV 26505, under the RES contract at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Phone: 304-***-****.

URS became AECOM, which then became AMENTUM. Performed engineering duties and CAD design under the R&D engineering group for work orders as needed. These mostly consisted of flow analysis in piping and instrumentation diagrams for pressure relief requirements per ASME B31.1 code. Other designs were made for 3D mechanical parts in Inventor Software. Laboratory research systems were designed and illustrated in 2 and 3D formats using AutoCAD. Engineering calculation Reports, Instrument Indexes, Pressure Relief Device Datasheets, and Pressure Leak Test procedures were written. Also checking these types of documents that others generated. Knowledge of the CGA gas cylinder requirements and hazards was obtained for the common types of research gases used at NETL.

April 1990 to January 14, 2010:

Engineering Specialist, Parsons Project Services, 5875 Trinity Pkwy #300

Centreville, VA 20120 (Corporate Office), site location was at 626 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 (NETL).

Performed engineering, design, and drafting activities at the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in South Park Pennsylvania. Utilized AutoCAD, Inventor 2009, and Bentley P&ID software to implement plant piping, structural supports, reactors, vessels, and experimental process designs into drawings. Formats included 2D, isometric, and 3D. Areas of experience are in plant and experimental flow systems using Process Flow Diagrams and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams according to ISA standards. Piping designs/systems and drawings according to the ASME B31.3 standard, mechanical design of parts and assemblies, structural steel construction adhering to AISC requirements, electrical design/drafting to ANSI symbols and the NEC code, equipment and facility plant layout drawings, and architectural drawings. Assisted in setting up site drafting standards. Drawings by others were checked for adherence to site format.

Quality assurance inspections were performed on mechanical parts and assemblies. This consisted of visual inspection of dimensional tolerances and weld inspection. Pressure testing reports were also witnessed for quality.

Project Engineering work was performed from March 2005 to February 2006 in addition to the other site design drafting duties. The project was for sorbents that would absorb mercury and other toxics from simulated flue gas. Duties entailed project equipment design/layout, purchasing, and scheduling of installation activities per time and budget. Technical documents were prepared for layouts, P&IDS, mechanical assemblies, safety analysis and review forms and NEPA permits.

Electro-mechanical technician functions were performed the first year of employment at NETL, enabling me to acquire hands on experience of technical installations and maintenance work.
