2020 Staff nurse in major county psychiatric emergency room HUCLA. Initial assessment and
triage of psychiatric patients brought in by police or being sent to the psychiatric ER, from
county mental health clinics, other hospitals, from the field by county psychiatric mobile
response teams or sheriffs’ mobile response programs and assessing patients from the
county hospital triage and ER. This assessment included determining patients’
appropriateness for transfer to the psychiatric ER, including doing breath analyzer tests for
dangerous blood alcohol levels, administration of medication and the management of
combative behavior. I also led psychiatric teams which were assigned to advise and help
manage patients throughout the rest of the hospital because they were violent or out of
control. The role also entailed working in collaboration with resident and attending
physicians to help determine patient diagnosis and medication management as well as
facilitating placement in Short-Doyle facilities and private Medi-Cal facilities. In the last few
I did take a few Covid 19 tests. These were taken on agitated psychotic patients, usually with police standby with police standby.

This is a mental health clinical call center for a Behavioral Health Care Management
Company. Employed in the clinical call center. My role included taking inbound calls, to
assess pts eligibility for benefits for service, interventions and making referrals to network

assistance program or substance abuse referrals. The role might also be to refer emergency
calls to the designated appropriate staff ie suicidal patients. Attended weekly case

1994-2005 Staff Nurse in a locked in-patient unit with 14-beds CRU at HUCLA. Assessment
of patients as they were admitted to the unit. Administration of medication
and management of aggressive and combative patients. IM medication
as ordered. Daily rounds led by the RN with residents, interns and attending MDs in order to create a plan of care including diagnosis, medication and placement. Mentoring and training of nursing staff and nursing students. Observation and direct care of pts undergoing ECT. Aware and trained in legal aspects of the Psychiatric patient including 5150s, probable cause hearings, 5250s, writs, and T-cons as well as conservatorships. Accompanying of pts to hearings at Court 95. Participated in probable cause hearings as the hospital representative.
