Working as a Contractor in SOHAR ALUMINIUM Co. Sohar, OMAN.

Responsibilities:

To supervise the complete Pot Change out activity. Which includes the following:

Flex cutting

Air slide and duct removal.

FCN Pipe and nipple removal.

Riser cutting and debolting.

By use of 54-ton crane, removal of Pot Super Structure

By using 216-ton crane to remove Pot Shell.

Fixing back the Pot shell & Superstructure.

2. Sohar Aluminium Co., SOHAR, OMAN. – Technician Engineer (Dec 2007 – Mar 2015)

First in the world to implement AP 35 Technology for Aluminium production. During the start-up of this Green Field under TURNKEY project with BECHTEL, I was working in Reduction Department, which is responsible to maintain various Sohar Aluminium facilities 24x7.

Responsibilities:

Gas Transfer Centre (Solios Make) is a plant used in aluminium smelter for treating and recycling of hazardous gases coming out of POTLINE. GTC has wide application of Mechanical Equipment.

Nature of GTC Jobs: Fresh alumina handling from truck unloading to include airlifts, air slide, covermix and maintenance of different kind of Air Blowers, Chain conveyors, fresh & fluorinated alumina and crushed bath silos, operation of filters module, Exhaust fans, Dedusting fans, Forced convection network (FCN) fans, Pressurization fans for blower rooms, Gas reacting Hopper, Vibrating Screen for Alumina, Roof bin filters, All supportive blower room and filter top cranes etc. Start-up & Shutdown of GTC, Feeding the electrolytic pots (HDPS), Elimination of impurities in fluorinated alumina, Filling the covering alumina and crushed bath to PTA hoppers, fabrics cleaning and replacement of different kinds of air slides.

Pot Tending Assembly (PTA) special kind of Electric Overhead Travelling Crane which carries many tools i.e., Anode extractor, shovel, bath pipe, Jack hammer,5 and 35 tons hoist used to carry out some specialized jobs in POTLINE (worked with ECL make PTAs).

Maintenance of PTA : Carrying out Preventive,Proactive as well as Breakdown Maintenance, analysis, formulations and maintaining records, Carrying out load testing of hoist mechanism, maintenance of hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems and repairing all kinds of mechanical tools and equipment (Gear boxes, LT&CT wheels, hoist drums, spring suspension, couplings, brake systems, wire ropes etc.)

During the Pre-start-up phase of the smelter the main responsibility was to ensure good understanding of the technicalities involved in the process of smelter operations and actively participate in the SOP and PM task list preparations.

Active participation in the Pre operation verification tests in designated areas as far as possible.

3. UNICOIL (UNIVERSAL METAL COATING CO.LTD.) JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA - Mechanical Technician (Sep 2005 – Oct 2007)

Accomplishments:

Unicoil is an ISO 9002 Certified Co. with Colour Coating (Paint Line). Worked in Mechanical Maintenance of the Continuous Galvanizing Line starting from Errection & commissioning activities.
