• Design and build a flow measurement lab to train personnel related to water supply.
Major achievements: Flow measuring is not a common practice in Guatemala, many systems do not have even a single flow meter. The implementation of a basic and low-cost flow measurement lab, help technicians either to monitor non-revenue water in relatively large systems, or to evaluate whether a source produces enough water to cover the demand of a small village - many villages are supplied by small springs. The lab includes an electronic meter that serves not only for teaching purposes but also to be used in measuring flows, in large diameter pipes.

• Reviewing of disinfection systems was also carried out. A booklet on how to monitor the correct chlorine doses as well as how to add this chemical to water (using either gas or powder) was written.
• Training systems operators was implemented. This included flow metering and disinfection practices (chlorine dosing monitoring) and the implementation of timetables to keep a good track on daily duties. Major achievements: A customer satisfaction survey carried out at the end the consultancy showed that in those municipalities where the recommended improvements were implemented, there were substantial changes in the perception of customers and thus, increments in the income were registered.
