●Positive

I always try to see the positive side of every situation even when the negatives look empowering. This summer I received disappointing AS results but still continue in my studies and am redoing the year in order to get the grades I need.

●Adaptable

I was able to adapt to many different and unsuspected situations when volunteering in Uganda.

●Committed

Since 2013, I have been attending the Croydon Minster Choir. Here, we in sing and rehearse every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Alongside providing a sense of routine, structure and valuable timekeeping skills; being in this choir develops my teamwork and cooperation.

●Independent

Once given a task to do, I will try my best to complete the task as efficiently as possible on my own.

●Calm and compassionate

I regularly work in a homeless shelter and have the ability to not place myself higher than anyone there. I am calm and compassionate when listening to their stories or talking with them, even if they may be distressed or anxious.

My experience in a “Morleys” chicken shop has perhaps been the most useful to me. I have learnt vital skills in customer servicie, also developed the ability to take criticism from harsh customers. Being a young girl in a chicken shop certainly does surprise people but here I have learnt I really do take pride in providing people with the best possible service to both entice them to come again and so they are satisfied with their food. I luckily have the ability to connect with a wide array of people that might enter a chicken shop on a Friday but also respect the boundary of being employed to work and serve, not talk. Most nights, there is a argumentative or disruptive customer that might unexpectedly act aggressive. I have learnt how to cope in these tense situations to ensure it does not escalate.

My experience in the Brixton Eyecare Centre, however, has developed my skills in socialising with a stark opposite type of people that often come to spend exceeding amounts on glasses. I will be honest and say I found this job harder than I thought. At first socialising with customers felt unnatural and forced which I cured with practice and time.

The Tooting McDonald's is an extremely busy and understaffed restaurant. Of course, as a result, I frequently have to deal with frustrated, angry and confrontational customers. At first thus was a grear struggle for me as i worked the nights and would. I have learnt to always put the customenrs satisfaction first by replying calmly and considerately. as taught me how a world renown business functions. Considering I would work night time shifts, this job has taught me how to respond to

I volunteer regularly at libraries and charity shops because I enjoy giving back to the community and facing different challenges. In addition- I like finding connecting with people from all different backgrounds to develop a knowledge of life outside of my own. It also builds my confidence, time keeping and communication skills, all things vital in a workplace.

I attend the Croydon Minster Choir where alongside singing, we learn vital lessons such as respect, communication and dedication. I have achieved a Dean and Bishop RSCM award through the Minster Choir and am currently working towards the final qualification of the Gold award. I recently learnt how to DJ and enjoy doing this in my spare time.

I also enjoy sports a lot. For example cycling and swimming. I like to do these everyday to clear my mind and feel fresh. I find team sports such as netball are great for a sense of belonging and cooperation skills.

I am also a Girl Guide which is a worldwide organisation that has taught me to be confident and proud of who you are. It also teaches people about the power of leadership and how you can address your ideas and concepts in a sophisticated yet subtle manner. With the Girl Guides, I was selected to go to Africa and Holland which were both fantastic opportunities to volunteer and experience cultures that are completely different to my own. I was chosen to represent GirlGuides in the Cenotaph Parade in 2016.

On most Sundays, I attend St Peter's Eaton Square Church in Sloane Square and serve there. Holding this position has given me adaptable skills where I can apply previous knowledge to new and often daunting situations. I have served for the Bishop of London and found that confidence to carry on is key, even when you may have made a mistake.
