Main research topic: Childhood Cancer Survivorship Study analysis of disparities in cardiovascular outcomes among childhood cancer survivors. I also constructed an institutional childhood cancer survivorship cohort through integration of cancer registry, electronic health record, and geospatial information system data to risk stratify patient and analyze patterns in appropriate follow-up care.

Guest Researcher at CDC Dengue Branch in San Juan, Puerto Rico November 2012-May 2015

Main research topic- “Dengue Epidemic in Puerto Rico 2012-2013: Integration of Passive and Sentinel Surveillance to Characterize and Differentiate Dengue in the Peri-vaccination Era”. I also helped to develop a physician learning module and clinical case of Dengue and Sickle Cell Anemia, aided in cluster study and outbreak investigation of melioidosis in Puerto Rico, conducted an impact analysis of standing orders for hospitalized patients with dengue, collaborated with American Red Cross to investigate fatal cases associated with dengue transmission in transfusions, and investigated fatal cases of dengue and leptospirosis coinfection.

Dengue Epidemiology in Valencia, Venezuela Summer 2011

Evaluated the dengue surveillance system in Naguanagua County Health Department as part of a public health internship with Universidad de Carabobo and INSALUD. Constructed a clinical profile and epidemiologic analysis of dengue in Naguanagua from the 2010 dataset collected by the county health department.

Health Care Challenges of Latino Children in Durham, NC May 2008-May 2009

Investigated disparities in quality and continuity of care as well as the implications of interpreter use through interviews and surveys at the Duke Pediatric Clinic Roxboro. Continued investigation as part of senior honors thesis.
