SUMMARY: Textile effluent is a major source of water pollution. It constitutes of dyes, detergents, surfactants, biocides which are hazardous and carcinogenic. This project work investigates the approach of ozonation for the treatment of textile effluents. The effect of concentration of ozone dose, duration of time needed for complete decolorization and pH of effluent was studied. The analysis of intermediate products formed during the course of ozonation was also performed. The treatment of ozone + H2O2 outperformed pure ozonation process for decolorization of textile effluent. Quantitative analysis of ozone consumption and generation using iodometric determination method was performed, which confirmed 69.3% of ozone being reacted during AOP treatment. The process of ozonation of textile effluent confirmed the pseudo first order chemical kinetics
