I am an Agriculturist by qualification and profession with more than 13 years of versatile experience in Agriculture sector development in Pakistan. I started my career with a project funded by Agribusiness Support Fund in April 2007 as a technical person for farm production, GLOBALG.A.P. implementation and certification for mango and citrus crops. As a part of team, I helped in developing farmers working groups / produce marketing organizations (PMOs) for training and certification leading to marketing of farm produce. Later, I joined Bureau Veritas Pakistan Pvt. Ltd and worked as trainer and auditor for certification and provided related services to mango, citrus and vegetables farmers. I have grip over the subject matters for facilitation as technical person for value chains development and strengthening linkages of farmers with other stakeholders for enterprise development and bring new investments. I am trainer and certifier of food & health safety standards especially GLOBALG.A.P., QMS, SRP and BCI in agriculture and food processing industry.
Being in USAID’s Agribusiness Project in Sukkur region, we worked to strengthen rural based economy of small and medium farmers and business through developing value chains i.e. mango, banana, guava and high value vegetables. I worked in SGS Pakistan to manage operations and provide business development and support services to entrepreneurs to enhance country’s exports through inspection, certification and lab testing of various commodities i.e. mango, citrus, dates, rice etc. Currently, I am working USAID Punjab Enabling Environment Project which focuses on policy reforms, capacity building and mobilization of local and international investments in Horticulture, Dairy and Livestock sub-sectors for economic uplift of the farming community. My role in PEEP is to provide my technical support and suggest initiatives/interventions for reforms for an enabling environment, human & institutional capacity development and investment in public and private sectors. The project helped development of mango, dates and vegetables sector development through establishing Horticulture Business and Policy Research Center at BZU Multan. Olive sector development in Potohar region in collaboration with Agriculture Department is a flagship initiative of the project in which we have supported Agriculture Department, olive farmers and processors through grants and advocacy efforts. Project implementation, coordination with stakeholders, report writing, communication, monitoring and evaluation and learning are the routine tasks in the project.
