Global IT Trade & Working Capital Applications in Corporate & Investment Banking
• Currently (from January 2019) driving Trade & Working Capital Applications in Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Area, reporting to Global CIO of CIB – Global Transaction Banking (GTB). 60 direct staff, 6 millions € IT annual budget plus 5 millions € infrastructure.
• Driving IT transformation in branches to reduce applications and IT costs, implementing the global payment solutions and supply chain finance systems. Currently in Production are Paris, New York, Frankfurt, Shangai, HQ (Madrid, Spain). Roadmap for Chile, Brazil, etc….
• Providing Digital Transformation across IT, coordinating with Global CDO and CTO. Re-aligning Data Hubs view, APIs strategy, Cloud roadmap, targeted end 2021.
• Changing the culture of IT, from a legacy ‘keep the lights on’ team, into a customer centric, business facing function. Introducing Dev/Ops, Agile (95% of project now) and clear project governance. Driving strong stakeholder engagement.
• Developed a standard software application portal for Customers and Suppliers, same advanced technology (React), next step is review user experience.
• Additionally, leading the System & Infrastructure workstream of CIB Strategic Programme for Santander UK. 50 direct staff, 17 millions €. Objective: transforming IT old systems into the global architecture of systems.
• Also, I have the rol of Cross IT Transformation Champion, covering Business, IT Roadmap, Organization evolution, Operating Model, New ways of working (Collaborative challenge), etc…. Global IT Big Data & Business Intelligence Solutions
• From July 2017 to January 2019, implemented a Global Big Data & Business Intelligence Solutions to standardize this practice into IT deliveries.
• Drive to deploy a fully integrated digital platform, Hadoop, Cloudera, Structured and Non Structured DataBases, Business Intelligence tools.
• Negotiated a new sourcing model, running several major RFP, with external partners (IBM, Everis, INDRA), 5 millions € in outsourcing deal (3 years), obtaining >20% of annual reduction costs.
• Developed a formation plan included Big Data Certification, also training courses in Master Data Management aligned to CDO for DataLake governance, for employees (>25 technical people formed). Human Centric approach.
• Driven the change management for a Data Lake Strategy and global knowledge, in Retail, Consumer and CIB business Areas.
• Contributed to align Data Management with Global CDO, implementation of global tools (dictionary, security, traceability….)
• Consolidating existing outsourced contracts to align SLA’s and drive efficiencies across IT group wide.
• Member of the Global Big Data Governance in Head Quarter, delivering strategic direction, architectural review and roadmaps to Global IT.
• Executed a recruiting plan to incorporate to Santander the best external IT talent (>10 people incorporate until December 2018)

Part of the global Technology and Operations team at Santander Banking Group. Over 2,000 people in 7 countries. Develops and/or implements financial solutions across a broad spectrum of technologies. It is the engine driving Santander’s digital transformation.
Global IT Consumer Finance Area
• From January 2016 to July 2017, lead Global IT Consumer Finance Area. 200 direct staff, >20 millions € annual budget in software plus >10 millions € in infrastructure. 11 countries in the scope.
• Driven global responsibility for Core Banking applications (Front, Middle and back end). Success in new core banking implemented for Santander Consumer UK in 2017, replacing the old one (>25 years old). Planned other countries
(Benelux, Italy)
• Drove the IT implementation of new functionalities in 2016 and 2017 (i.e.: e-signature, instant loans for consumer, etc…) that allowed the business to increase relevant customers (Carrefour, Mediamark…)
• Managed Digital and Data Strategy implementation for Head Quarters, implementation of regulatory information system solution for Risk Data Aggregation in 2017, global solution.
• Implementation of financial MIS for HQ and countries in 2017, replacing the old one made in spreadsheets, achieving quality of information, reducing time to market (from days to online availability of data) and eliminating the operational risk.
• Guided to IT Consumer Finance area to unify the IT teams, consolidate the systems and driving the digital strategy, achieving the 4th business area in profits in Santander Group. Even the IT survey of satisfaction of business customers improved 3 points.

• Relocated from the London (UK) to Madrid (Spain) in 2007, as the IT Director for Global Information Systems in Finance & Control Management Area in Head Quarters.
• Driven the creation of first Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Big Data & Analytics for Santander Group, in 2015. 125 direct staff, >15 millions € annual. Success in established a Reference Architecture team for Big Data, created Best Practices including Data Ingestion and Security, drived the Big Data Shared Services Infrastructure
• Created 2 Big Data HUBs worldwide (México and Spain) in 2014 to cover all the geographies, agreements with external partners (INDRA, Everis) to support the operational model. Obtaining cost reductions in local teams and synergies in the IT service provided from the HUBs.
• Implementation of Global system of financial consolidation for countries and Group’s companies (> 700), in 2010. Unifiying data and processes, gaining time to market in the execution and information quality. This system provided service to Board Member and President of Santander Group.
• Implementation of IT Solution for Corporate System Costs, achieving the same view of data and drivers in the HQ and allowing the execution of a decommissioning plan, in 2009.
• Drove the implementation of Financial Management Information System (FMIS) for Latam, USA and Europe. Obtaining a Corporate Data Environment, and common BI exploitation, also allowed to unify the Balance and P&L information in 2007-2008
• Success in IT Transformation projects (core banking and Information systems) in Sovereign Bank in USA (2012), Santander GER (2012), Banesto Spain (2014).
