BTVI January 2019 — September 2019

Deccan Chronicle August 2016 — November 2018

ScoopWhoop May 2015 — May 2016

Senior Content Writer

My role involves making business news informative and interesting in 60 words with writing and editing skills.

Senior copy editor

Posting market updates, wire copies, short articles about business and finance on BTVI's website.

Posted lines on BTVI channel's live ticker for daily business news and prime-time debates.

Senior sub-editor, Lifestyle

Handled online desk for lifestyle covering health, fashion, viral content and trends. Wrote, edited and posted articles myself and by two other sub-editors as team head. Staff writer, News

Wrote news articles, listicles, features, opinions across politics, business, tech and entertainment beats.

Used contacts and field reporting skills to get further insights on stories. Briefly contributed to videos.

SUMMARY Having worked in digital media for 5+ years, I have been able to keep track of readership trends and fluctuations on social media. The past five years have also marked online content's role in shaping political opinion and socio-cultural shifts. I have myself experienced growth as a writer and editor on the desk although I would also like to venture out for field reporting more. Have worked with organisations with considerable online presence like ScoopWhoop and Deccan Chronicle. Went beyond current affairs to cover health, lifestyle and later business, while retaining my keen interest in political developments. Explored more concise and relatable writing at a business news app in development phase.

I am open to taking up different roles and working on diverse content formats including long articles, op-eds, videos and info-graphics suited for online medium. Ayub Dawood

INTERESTS

Reading, cinema and theatre are primary objects of attention for me. Writing for myself and to improve my skill comes next. I do have an interest in reading academic articles apart from non-fiction books and detailed news features.

Cinema and music are a mixed bag of critically acclaimed and guilty pleasures along with documentaries.

I like to walk, observe architecture, people and urban culture and sub-cultures in action. My interest in food extends to exploring simple, affordable meals and bouts of experimental cooking.

Football is the only outdoor sport I can relate to and I haven't touched indoor or virtual gaming for a long time.

Deep, insightful conversations outside the digital realm are a source of satisfaction.
