PROJECT 1

Comparative Structural Analysis of the Sandwich Composite using Advanced Numerical Simulation

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Abstract-In engineering applications, material selection is complicated, which deals the mechanical and general properties of materials. Simultaneously the researches on materials are emerging in current days in the perspective of property modifications in the existing materials and / or invention of new materials. In this work deals the numerical study about mechanical properties of various sandwich composites for aerospace applications. Comparatively, numerical simulation based property estimation of sandwich composite is more reliable because of the uniqueness and advanced capabilities involved the numerical simulation. The various major fibers such as carbon, Kevlar and glass fibers based sandwich composites are generated with the inclusion of epoxy resin matrix in ANSYS ACP 16.2, in which ASTM standard provides the dimensional support to the construction of test specimen in ANSYS Design Modeler 16.2. Fine and structural discretized model of the normal test specimen are formed with the help of ANSYS Mesh Tool 16.2 Totally sixteen different models are generated and thereby the structural analyses are compared with the help of Ansys Static Structural 16.2 under the normal load conditions.

FINDINGS AND SUGGESTIONS

The sandwich composites are constructed with the help of ACP tool, in which Glass, Carbon, Kevlar are plays a vital role in the fiber materials and Sand foam, PVC foam, Honeycomb are plays a vital role in the core materials. After the successful generation of sandwich composite with the different ways of implementation of all fiber and core materials totally sixteen models are created for structural simulation. The bending load of 1000N is applied at the midpoint of all the sandwich composites and thereby the structural analyses outputs are noted for optimization. Especially strain energy deformations are predominantly contributes a lot in the evaluation procedures. Finally the comparative analyses are executed, in which Epoxy carbon wet-Honeycomb sandwich is more suitable to tackle the bending load.

PROJECT 2

UAVs in Medical Product Transportation

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Abstract- Medication is the practice of providing diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Medical availability and clinical practices varies across the world due to regional difference in culture and technology. Inaccessible roads prevail as the major barrier in the conventional way of transporting medications. The delivery of blood units from the city hospitals to the primary health care centres in remote areas, through land vehicles is time consuming and unsuitable for long distance, heavy traffic etc. The accessibility of medicine or first aid kit during disasters is also a existing major issue, since every other road transports fails due to that worse conditions. In certain “Between life and death” conditions, for example if a person is bitten by a snake, it is necessary to treat him/her within 30-60mins of byte. In rural areas the anti-venom is unavailable due to lack of proper storage facilities. In such cases the transportation of anti-venom from the city hospitals takes long time to reach the victim. In such cases, UAV offers a great alternative solution. Surprisingly, the transportation of organs for a very long distance within a hour has become possible. Using telemedicine technologies, the health in remote communities can b e accessed by the UAV with imaging capabilities. It is helpful to people with cardiac arrest, for the rapid deployment of defibrillators during emergency situations. UAV also ensures the safe transport of test samples from place to place. As a whole it serves as a sky ambulance to provide timely help. This service can be made available to everyone, effectively by mobile app technology. In this paper we have just presented our project ideas, yet we are on the move to implement.

FINDINGS AND SUGGESTIONS

UAV has the good demand in the medical industry. Though it has various promising applications, it also has its own risk factors. The UAV, that is to be designed will take in account of those factors. That is, the UAV that is to be designed will not substitute the entire road Ambulance, instead it can be employed during the emergency conditions. Also when long flight and heavy payload lift is concerned, the use of fixed wing UAV will be the best, on comparing to UAV drones. Thus the product to be designed is the fixed wing UAV, which is capable of providing a timely help
