Production Control Specialist

I am responsible for creating, reviewing all routers / work orders for the fabrication shop floor. I review and correct any changes to materials, machine set-up time, and cycle times that were initially entered by the estimating department.

I review the drawings from the Engineering Department which I use to accurately create the routers for the shop floor.

I coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Scheduling, Production Manager, Shop Floor Supervisors, Shop Floor Leads, and Shop Employees for any issues or concerns regarding the job routers, in regard to design, customer specifications, lead times, manufacturing capacity, and potential expediting opportunities to meet our customers required delivery dates.

I attend our morning production to discuss our sales goals / shipments for the present day, and for the remainder of the week and beyond. We collectively discuss any issues that need to resolved to assure that we achieve our goals. We discuss on any resolutions to all issues such as non conforming parts, scrap, and re-work that we might be experiencing and a correction action to prevent re-occurrence from happening with future orders. Internal design changes or customer design changes are discussed to prevent scrap parts, rework, and a potential negative impact on the production schedule, and the customers delivery date.

Senior Production Control Specialist / Purchasing / Material Management / Scheduling / Tool Management / Logistics / Shipping / Receiving / Outside Processing / Inventory

I was responsible for overseeing all day to day operations of the Materials Group and my shipping & receiving employee, along with training, coaching, discipline, reward, and continuous improvement for their growth in learning and taking on more responsibilities. I was also part of the team for implementing the BaaN ERP System

I would attend the Materials Managers monthly conference call, and monthly procurement call. I would participate in out weekly Profitable Growth Plan conference call with upper management and report our shipped sales dollars, our forecast for the week, and also for the month.

I was responsible for holding and conducting our weekly production review meeting after collecting the status of every job on our production schedule and submitting to all appropriate personnel.

I worked with Plant Management with coordinating customer’s orders that need to be pushed out or pulled in on the production schedule. I managed the issues that follow a cancelled order such as raw material, tools, and gaps in the production schedule. I also manage all aspects of the supply chain of materials, tooling and parts that impact all production orders.

I was responsible for production scheduling, releasing of production orders after I have issued the raw material per our ERP System to complete the job including set-up scrap, and 10% scrap overage.

I was responsible for ordering all raw material per customer & Engineering specifications, CNC Machine tools and shop supplies for the production floor and quality lab through our ERP Baan System, & Cribware System. I manage the daily maintenance of the tool crib, including problem solving, special and expedited request. I would also order all shop equipment, capital expenditure purchase orders, service purchase orders for calibrating inspection gages, and other equipment, machine services for repairs or preventative maintenance.

I was responsible for setting up new suppliers with credit terms, getting them on our approved supplier list, setting up payment terms, and setting them up in our ERP System.

I would work with the Plant Manager to order material with long lead times, to make sure that we wouldn’t run out of material for production, and so we wouldn’t have to much raw material.

I would schedule, coordinate, and execute all cycle counts and annual physical counts for month and year end WIP, raw materials, and finished goods, and resolve any inventory discrepancies.

I would submit all job travelers to quality control for the inspection plans and the bubbled master drawing to be included into the job traveler. When this is completed the job traveler is returned to me in order to issue any raw material to the work order, and to have the material certs included.

After overseeing & receiving all raw materials, customer supplied material, or outsourced materials against the job traveler, and collecting all impertinent documentation such as Material Certification with heat lot number, batch number, chemical composition, Certificate of Conformance, and packing slip I file these documents, label the material with all this information, stage the material, electronically file all documentation, and finally release the job traveler to the production floor.

I would oversee all outsourced services, create the purchase orders per scope of work to be performed per engineering, ship the parts out and receive them back with supporting documentation, and update the appropriate operations on the job traveler. I would also collect the pertinent documentation, certificate of conformance, packing slips & include them in the job traveler. I would also electronically file all the documentation.

I was responsible for coordinating, scheduling, executing all domestic, and international shipments for all customers order, along with negotiating and providing all impertinent shipping documentation and certifications.
