Experience and Projects
Period: Sept 2019 to June 2020
Company: Santa Clara University
Role: Software Engineer
Project: Senior Design Project – WayPoint
Developed an augmented reality application aiming to remove the need of looking at a map or going to a directory on Santa Clara University Campus. Inspired by the navigation assist system in a video game called Dead Space, the mobile application highlights horizontal pathways in the direction of the desired building as long as the user is within campus grounds.
Responsibilities:
• Outline the design and technologies needed for the project.
• Determine architectural framework along with what technologies to use.
• Develop authorization functionality to authenticate camera and location services for a given user.
• Develop the functionality that will highlight pathways, providing directions to the destination building.
• Won first place in our group of senior design projects. Technologies Used: Swift – Uikit, SwiftUI, ARkit, Project Dent AR+CL framework Period: Sept 2019 to Dec 2019
Company: Santa Clara University
Role: Web Developer
Project: Iron Engineer Website
Iron Bronco Triathlon is an ironman triathlon that spans 2 weeks, held on the Santa Clara University campus every year to promote student health and school spirit. Participants can form groups of up to 3 people and collectively run 26.2 miles, bike 112 miles and swim 2.4 miles. My team was tasked to create a website that allowed students and faculties to register for the competition, find teams, and log their progress along the way.
Responsibilities:
• Integrated oAuth API on Spring boot MVC framework web application to allow for Google Single Sign On.
• Set up mySQL tables for storing competitors’ information, teams they belong to, and logs for each competitor.
• Set up communication between AWS RDS and the Spring application.
• Developed administrative functionality on the website, which allowed administrators to approve teams, approve participant log activity and remove participants from the competition.
• Deployed completed website on AWS EC2.
Technologies Used: Spring Boot, oAuth, AWS RDS, AWS EC2, mySQL, JSP, CSS, Apache Tomcat, Bootstrap
Period: June 2018 to Sept 2018
Company: Western Digital Tegile, Newark CA
Role: Software Engineer (File Systems)
In order to reduce resilvering and data scrubbing on an active-active system running a ZFS file system, I utilized Apache Zookeeper to develop better communication between the two servers so that the jobs or tasks executed on these servers would not disrupt the functionality.
Responsibilities
• Used Zookeeper tree hierarchy to store physical ids of disks as edge znodes and linked each physical id to their respective vdev nodes. This ensured no disk would be used multiple times.
• Developed a highly available zookeeper ensemble by setting up 3 servers, 2 on the active-active system and a third which was integrated into an already existing HA service. If a server went down, the zookeeper server would continue communicating and once a server reconnected, the in-memory zookeeper tree would be updated.
• Initially set up the Zookeeper ensemble in Java, but due to compatibility issues, I had to restart and implement the technology in C. The transition to C was quick, and I was able to retrace my steps within a reasonable time.
• Set up initial boot dependencies and SMF manifests, which launched an instance of the zookeeper server and determined its status
(online/maintenance/offline/disabled) in order to create a method of monitoring the zookeeper ensemble status without accessing it directly. Technologies Used: Java, C, Apache Zookeeper, SolarisOS, Service Management Facility
Period: Aug 2017 to Nov 2017
Company: ThinkTank Learning, San Jose CA
Role: Data Research Intern
• Researched university and private high school acceptance rates, transfer rates, GPA averages, and visualized the data.
• Educated students about the college application process, transferring, and universities they should apply to.
• Spoke at multiple seminars educating parents about the college application process.
Period: Jan 2016 to June 2016
Company: ComptechS, Cupertino CA
Role: Computer Maintenance Intern
• Refurbished desktops and laptops donated to De Anza College, wiped previous owners’ data, and distributed laptops to students in need of them.
• Maintained computer infrastructure of the college library and classrooms, assuring every desktop functioned efficiently and contained the necessary applications.
Period: Sept 2015 to till date
Company: Freelance Projects
Role: Software Engineer
• Made a platformer and a puzzle game using the Unity game engine. Currently working on making a first-person shooter.
• Created a 3D model of a human using AutoDesk Maya and incorporated it into the Unreal Engine.
• Created an automatic water feeder for 6 chickens for the Santa Clara University garden. This automatic water feeder always reduced necessary maintenance of the chicken coop and provided fresh water for the chickens.
• Created basic games such as Snake and Minesweeper using JavaScript.
• Designed a lyric video by syncing text animation to vocal cues using Adobe After Effects and linked clips together using Adobe Premiere Pro for Ed Sheeran’s “ Thinking Out Lou”.
Personality
• I have configured and built many desktop computers for family and friends.
• Able to brew a great cup of coffee as I’ve worked at a milk tea cafe during high school. I can make milk tea and boba at home too!
• I have achieved max level in all skills in RuneScape as an Ironman-enabled account.
• Just like a crazy cat lady, I am a crazy cat dad and have one adorable cat named Oreo.
