I am a Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) and Health and Care Professions Council

(HCPC) registered General Medical Sonographer, currently working for Sidra Medicine as a. I am an ambitious and hardworking professional with an extensive range of experience in Ultrasound. 01/02/2017- To Present Sonographer-System Administrator Since joining Sidra I have extended my role of practice to include a variety of tasks involved in establishing new ultrasound departments and services. My duties have included the following range of tasks:

• Confidently performing and assisting with a full range of scans and procedures including abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM), Womens Urgent Care/Inpatient, Reproductive Medicine (fertility), Hycosy, Saline infusion, thyroids, paediatric renal, neonatal hips, neonatal head and social (3D/4D) scans.

• Producing, developing, establishing and implementing protocols, policies and procedures. The protocols are continuously being revised to reflect current and best practice.

• Discussing and conducting workflows/patient pathways with relevant service users and stake holders.

• Establishing/developing a new paediatric ultrasound service at an outreach hospital (Al Wakra hospital) and applying the knowledge and experience gained to activate Paediatric and Obstetric Ultrasound services at Sidra.

• Significant participation in the RADNet scheduling build with CERNER, contributing greatly towards creating a Radiology appointment system tailored to our departmental needs.

• Working with senior management to select billing codes associated with US examinations offered at Sidra, thus increasing my knowledge and understanding related to the financial element of establishing Ultrasound services. These experiences have given me a beneficial insight into work flows, various systems and the general organization of Ultrasound services.

• Being a significant part of the team responsible for the implementation and establishment of a new Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound services at Sidra. This service has been developed in conjunction with the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM), Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine Practitioners with whom I have established close working relationships and further developed my knowledge of obstetric scanning.

• Working in busy and stressful situations and applying my knowledge and experience to undertake new or unfamiliar tasks and successfully produce a high level of work. I have proven this by working with sonographers, radiologists and MFM practitioners to produce protocols for different areas of scanning including Adult General Abdominal, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Adult Small Parts and Paediatrics.

• Working with my team to produce report templates for a full range of ultrasound scans, to complement the protocols and establish a common form of examination documentation which can be used for audit.

• Significantly advancing my knowledge of ultrasound workflows and machines by being actively involved in establishing and testing, end to end work flows within the new OPC facility. The process involved testing/reviewing/customizing and creating specific ultrasound machine parameters/presets in collaboration with clinicians. Annotations/comments/measurements and worksheets were also customised and set to reflect departmental protocols. The process was completed by ensuring all machines were standardised with the same parameters, to maintain efficient flow, optimal utilization of resources and promote a high standard of patient care.

• Working closely with several stakeholders including, MFM practitioners, Obstetricians, Gynecologists, Nurses, IT/DHI, Educators, Bio-med and patient access teams to assess service requirements, roles/expectations/limitations and to continually review and refine workflows, processes and pathways to ensure best practice.

• Continual collaboration with MFM physicians, gynaecologists, sonographers, IT, DHI and the vendor to ensure the dedicated OB/GYN ultrasound software -Astraia, is successfully installed, implemented and maintained according to departmental and user requirements. Since I have used Astraia previously, I have also been responsible for training and familiarizing Clinicians and sonographers with the use of this software.

• Liaising with IT, DHI and Biomed on room readiness to accommodate our increasing workload, new staff and new services, including designated MFM practitioner ultrasound lists.

• Completing Cerner super-user training and all forms of the User Access Training process and becoming a PEARL Super User with the responsibility of assisting staff/colleagues with basic IT issues.

• Working closely with my manager to produced ultrasound consumable lists for procurement and being actively involved in the procurement process related to ultrasound specific equipment, giving me beneficial insight of budgetary processes and stock control.

• Completing the 14 week Sidra Improvement Process (SiP) training course to understand and implement the principles of Lean methodology in the Healthcare setting to improve efficiency and reduce waste. I have applied the tools learnt to make improvements to departmental workflows related to increased efficiency of system and to implement numerous standard work processes.

• I have worked with my manager and departmental educators to created orientation and training documentation for new staff to ensure a systematic and smooth induction process is conducted when introducing new staff members to the department.

• Providing systems training and support for physicians and sonographers in existing and new areas of operation to enable efficient running of new, existing and expanding services.

• I have established and implemented a comprehensive Gynaecology Ultrasound upskilling program designed to support and develop sonographers to develop their scanning and report writing skills related to Gynaecology scanning. The program is very through and involves theoretical and practical assessments.

• I have worked collaboratively with the MFM team to introduce a first trimester clinical audit process within the department, to improve the accuracy of our documentation related to first trimester scans.

• I have created and introduced non-clinical internal audits to monitor and maintain standards relating to patient identification, Ultrasound systems/documentation, Room standards and infection control processes.

• Collaborating with the Division Chief of MFM to contribute to a book chapter ‘Obstetric Ultrasound for Diabetes-Related Congenital Anomalies’ published in Donald School Textbook of Diabetic Pregnancy and Ultrasound and as an article in Donald School Journal of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Jan 2017).

Barts Health NHS Trust- Whipps Cross Hospital

01/10/2004 – 05/12/2014 - Sonographer

Since qualifying in 2005, I worked at Whipps Cross University Hospital enhancing and developing my Ultrasound skills. My duties included:

• Confidently performing and reporting a full range of scans including abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, thyroids, paediatric renal, neonatal hips and neonatal head scans.

• Being fully competent in both Trans abdominal and transvaginal scanning and able to perform a full range of obstetric scanning including dating scans, anomaly scans, growth scans, Doppler scans and Nuchal scans.

• Confidently using the Astraia reporting system and the Agfa Quadrat Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). I undertook training and became experienced in the use of the CERNER health care information system.

• Working autonomously, confidently managing my own scanning lists and providing accurate reports of my findings.

• Using my clinical knowledge and experience to appropriately assess the need for and make necessary recommendations for further scans, assessments and referrals.

• Communicating results to patients with empathy, compassion and understanding, particularly in relation to breaking bad news.

• In the absence of my manager, being responsible for co-ordinating the departmental day. My duties have involved arranging and organising daily emergency scan requests/ lists, vetting requests, arranging cover in cases of staff absence and overseeing the general smooth running of the department.

• Working within a multidisciplinary team, liaising closely with Consultants, Registrars, Sonographers, Midwives and students. This experience has enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills to enable me to provide a high standard of patient care. I am bilingual in English and Urdu and this has been an invaluable tool in communicating and understanding patients.

• Participating in and conducted patient satisfaction audits, therefore I fully understand and appreciate how essential audits are in improving patient care and delivery. I was previously involved in developing an audit on patient satisfaction relating to appointment times in the Ultrasound department. The results of the audit were compiled and presented at a monthly radiology meeting to Radiologists, Radiology Managers and senior staff.

• Working with Obstetricians, Gynaecologists, Midwife sonographers and nurse managers in Womens and Childrens services to establish a new Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Assessment Unit (EPGAU). This experience familiarized me with the planning, prioritizing and organising involved in developing a new ultrasound scanning service.

• Teaching/training Sonographers, Midwives, Radiographers and Doctors. I feel teaching others is invaluable in my own personal development and encourages me to keep up to date with the profession. It also helps me integrate my medical knowledge with fellow healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible patient care.

• Actively undertaking CPD by reading ultrasound, radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology journals, completing online courses via the Fetal Medicine Foundation website, and attending external courses/conferences and in house teaching sessions.

Upon qualification as a Radiographer in 2001, I began working in all areas of general radiography and fluoroscopy. As a senior radiographer I completed the IV injection course in July 2003 and worked in CT and Nuclear medicine. I was responsible for managing work lists, training staff/students and deputising for the manager in CT on a regular basis. My role as a radiographer developed my skills of communication, organization, planning, mentoring and delegation. Education
